Not a good morning: I just don't understand anymore. The scale is going one way early in the week to where it showed me at 204/ 205 now this morning it was at 209. I am just really upset and frustrated. I am puttn in 5 days a week working out and for the last 3 weeks I haven't lost, and it's just stayed at 207. I am beginning to mentally give up bc I am not seeing it in the scale. What am I doing that's wrong??? Am I not eatn enough or working out not long enough?? I see everyone else on here losing and I can't freakn understand why I can't anymore. I know all about just don't by the scale, and use measurements, but come on, we are all adults, and we want to see the scale move...Why can't it move for me!!!!

Your diary is closed. It is difficult to make suggestions without knowing what you are doing. Great job with the working out, but you have to eat right too. Could be something in your diet. Too much sodium maybe? I dunno... don't give up though. You will find what works and get there.0

Diary is open now.0

My scale never moved quickly. And I tend to fluctuate a lot. I weigh myself monthly. If I know I'm doing everything right, daily or weekly is pointless......0

According to my trainer it is not unusual to not see the scale move but she assures me I will see inches go away before huge weight losses with the training sessions I am doing every week. I try to stay encouraged over that statement and will give it some time. I know in my brain she is right just got to keep the mantra up.0

You may not be eating enough. You have calories left at the end of the day. You could be in starvation mode. Also less processed foods and more fresh whole foods help.0

Maybe try eating more of your calories and eat a bigger breakfast to kick start your day. You might also want to try adding Fiber to your diary's numbers to see if you're getting enough.0

I took a look at your diary and things look fine.
Have you taken a rest day yet? Sometimes thats enough to kick start the weightloss.
Also I wouldn't worry too much about fluctuations.. they happen to everyone. Eventually the scale will move again.. when it wants too. You can't force this process.0 -
It could well be a combination of the fact that working out forms muscle, which is heavier than fat and the starvation mode. If you combine exercise (and your body is not used to it) and not using all of your calories, your body might be saving its calories instead of burning it.
It's OK to do aerobic exercise every day, but be sure to vary your work out from day to day. If you are doing weights, make sure that you are properly resting each muscle group every other day.
In addition, make sure that you are getting enough protein and are meeting your daily vitamin requirements. A good daily multivitamin is important if you are not balancing your meals properly.
If you have not done so recently, see your doctor and tell him/her that you are on a fitness/diet program and ask him to do a blood test to check your levels. I found out that I had a serious vitamin D3 deficiency, which presented with Alzheimer-like symptoms. That, with a low level of B12, which zapped my energy, really threw a hitch in my lifestyle.
Plus, do NOT weigh yourself more often than once a week. Your weight can easily fluctuate, especially when the weather is very hot, has it been in most of the country lately.
I don't know if any of this helps, but also remember that people hit plateaus at most any stage of the weight loss/exercise process, so don't be so attached to the outcome if you are doing the right things. I know it is difficult, but praise yourself and think positively every single day you follow your goals.
Try duplicating the week of your food diary in which you were especially successful and see if that helps.0 -
I use the calorie calculator on freedieting.com and adjust my goals on MFP to fit that. The standard on MFP is 1200 and freedieting says my caloric intake should be 1342. I was hesitant to up my calories, but I was at a standstill and once I increased my calories, I got over the plateau. Upping calories and exercising seems redundant - but it worked for me
I put in your weight, your age and took at stab at your height (5'11") and it states that you should be consuming around 1695 calories for EXTREME fat loss (so that is the lowest you should go). According to your diary, you are eating too few calories0 -

. . . .I like that statment - it made me laugh out loud0 -
Im in the same boat! I have been going 6 miles a day on my stationary bike, and eating pretty good, i will admit that there are things I could cut out lol, but ive been stuck at the same weight for almost 3 weeks now! So I know exactly how you feel! FRUSTRATED!!0

I typically rest on Friday's and I don't burn myself on Sunday's either. So my schedule looks like this:
Monday - exercise
Tuesday - exercise
Wednesday - exercise
Thursday - exercise
Friday - REST
Saturday - exercise
Sunday - REST with very light exercising0 -
I don't think it's because you're exercising too much - I'm leaning more towards you not eating enough. Assuming you set yourself up with say a 1 pound per week goal, MFP already gives you a calorie deficit and when you exercise, you get even more of a deficit and from what I see on your diary for the last 4 days, you're not eating nearly enough of those calories back. I know it seems logical to think, less calories in, more pounds lost - but most bodies don't work that way, at least not for long.
So, try eating a bit more...it doesn't have to be junk for the sake of calories but a couple more fruits or some nuts or a protein shake after your workout will bring your total up easily.
There is also a chance that if you've upped your intensity in cardio or weights in strength training that your body is retaining a bit of water as part of the natural muscle healing process. Make sure you're drinking a bit more water on the days when you work out to help flush and recover.0 -
The thing I am seeing consistently is sodium levels are high to over recommended sodium for the day. That could be causing you to retain fluid. I know when I eat certain things, I can gain overnight from fluid retention.
I would try to eat cleaner for a week or so and see if that doesn't change things for you. More fresh foods and less processed and/or fast food. You can make a decent quick meal with just a few ingredients and a microwave and a George Foreman grill...
Go to the message boards and search starvation mode. Someone posted an article just this morning about that. I don't think you are in starvation mode, I think you need to change what you are eating.
Good luck!0
