Need to vent a bit. My gym was giving out magazines yesterday. My friend and I were leaving and one of the employees asked if we got a free magazine. We said no, so he handed one to us. The girl on the cover was RIPPED! the employee pointed to the girl and said "in two months, you will look like this." I am not sure if that was an attempt at motivation or a compliment.. But I didnt take it that way. I am not one to get upset about what people say, grain of salt, but really!!?!?!!!

I guess I don't understand why that would be taken poorly unless you don't like the way that woman looked. *shrug* But just let it roll off your back either way.0

Venting with you!! Oh my gosh I don't like that it's unrealistic. You have to be the best you are and those mags are airbrushed and digitally altered. That is why the diet industry is flourishing b/c people want the magic pill or magic Poof to make you skinny. I work to be my best everyday and just to be positive and encouaging. Ok off my soapbox0

there are people on here who couldnt look ripped in 2 years. so i guess i would take that a different way i could look maybe 10 lbs different in 2 months wich is nothing at all really

I am sure it wasnt meant in a bad way. But I am more doing this to be healthy, not to be a defined in every part of my body. And it also felt like he was judgmental as to how I look right now.0

Maybe the employee thought it would motivate you to want to come to the gym more often. Just do what feels best for you and don't worry about what other people may or may not think of you.0

I think it was a lame attempt to both compliment and motivate.
Obviously they didn't quite get it.
Best of luck to you.0 -
Does the employee work with you, know your routine, or what you're goals are? If not, they shouldn't be commenting like that or it has the affect your feeling. As a trainer I try not to set any unrealistic goals for my clients. It's one thing to push, but totally different to set the bar too high.
Besides, every magazine cover in the US is photoshopped to death. Shadows added, abs painted on, blemishes removed, eye and hair color tweaked, etc.0
