OMG the COOLEST thing happened to me!!

I was talking to my anatomy/physiology teacher b/c I had to teach myself a lecture Monday (was sleeting outside!) and he asked if I still want to teach. And of course I said YES. So he says, "Would you like to give a lecture?"

WOULD I EVER! So I said YES again.

And he said, "Well how about you give the last lecture?"

SO I AM!! I get to be the professor on Monday! I'm teaching the whole lecture on renal physiology all by myself!! Of course this will be hard work (I'm working on it right now lol) but it's SO worth it.

So I get my dream job for a day...what would be YOUR dream job for a day?

Thank you! I am actually still preparing the notes lol...my prof gave me his powerpoint but it's all diagrams, so I have to read about it and then make notes for each slide. Hopefully I can remember it all.

My dream job is what I'm going to school for: Dietician!

I want to focus on Sports Dietetics and Sports Medicine so I can work with athletes to build healthy eating programs that work for them! :)

Congrats, that is so cool. I'd give anything to be done with school and actually in a job already
  • I would love to deliver babies for a day. But since I don't want to do all the schooling, I think I have my dream job: I work in loss prevention catching shoplifters. God how I love this job!! :drinker:

Dietetics is a lot of fun because it's always changing and there's so much 'controversy' hehe. I'm with you on wanting to be done with school...I have about 7 more years to go, whew!

Songbyrd ... that is so cool!! You will make a great professor ... you're able to make things so clear!

My dream job ... or life, I guess ... would be to live in a colony of artists/musicians who spend their days making art & music so I could just go from painting to singing to dancing as I wanted to throughout the day.

How that would all be paid for is what makes that a dream ....

I would love to be a nurse in an ER. Trauma if I could. That is my dream job.

But I absolutely must comment on your day SBS! You were MADE to do this! I love the fact you are so young, and dedicated to what you are learning. I see my kids and their friends in school, taking it for granted. No spunk, no high five for a test well done.

You have obviously chosen the right field to work in, as you really 'get it'.

I have even watched you grow in the past few months on how you respond to your 'student' (that would be US!!) Your answers are more concise, and user friendly.

Thanks for all your help-you have dug me out of the hole on more than one occasion!

I am so happy for your Dream Day!!!

My dream job I'm pretty much doing it being a stay-at-home mom:heart:
But.....If I had to pick something I think I would like to be a professional dancer.

You guys all want really cool jobs!
Thank you for all the kind words. You are all awesome. :smooched:
AWTY, I agree, I have been trying to make my answers better both here and when I tutor. It's sometimes harder to explain something without all the 'jargon' hehe

Last night I spent a few hours looking over his lecture stuff and teaching myself lol...I have to know it to teach it..and then this morning we went over it together. Tomorrow I'm meeting with him again for the rest of the stuff to make sure I have it all right in my head, and then I get to practice over the weekend. I can't wait til Monday!

We are going to play a joke on the class too...

This is renal phys, so we talk about urine. I'm going to get a cup with some applejuice in it and when I talk about secretion I'll say something like, "Before glucose tests, Dr's had to determine whether someone was diabetic based on their urine. Glucose in it will make it smell sweet. Our professor has given me some urine from a diabetic sheep so we can smell it."

I'll let a couple people waft it and remark on how it smells fruity.

Then I'll say, "They would also have to taste it if the odor wasn't very strong, and it would taste sweet."

And then I'll drink a little bit!

I can only appreciate this b/c I had a demented A&P professor in college that would do random things like try to convince us he was eating parts of our dissections like cow brains or sheep kidneys. I always thought it was hilarious...not everyone else agreed. LOL

I LOVE the trick, that sounds fantastic... Before you take a sip, you should ask for volunteers!!

I'd want to be an actor... I'm a screenwriter for a living, and it would be nice to have somebody that could get my lines right.

My crazy A&P professor (feel free to use this songbyrd) came in with a full urine specimen jar. He proceeded to tell us how back before "dip sticks" the nurses would have to taste the urine in order to see if there was sugar in it to diagnose diabetes. He then casually undid the lid and took a swig. We all about had a heart attack! Thankfully it was just apple juice.

Oh am doing that! I really need to get a good jar though...something that looks convincing, like you'd really store sheeps urine in it.

Exactly this. Alas, I must content myself by writing the occasional review for Trip Advisor and footing the bill myself. (I went to college with Samantha Brown...I wasn't friends with her, but had several friends in the theater department who were.)

I also dream of becoming a Rockette...but am several inches too short.

OP, sounds like fun! I'm so happy for you.
My dream job is to be a disability lawyer. If I could spend a day in that field, I'd like to help a client pursue much-needed and well-deserved benefits, and maybe change the system a little bit, to be fairer to the "differently-abled" population.

While in undergrad I worked with one of my profs who was doing a study correlating largemouth bass exposure to environmental estrogens (DDE and chlordane in this case) with male fish production of a female yolk protein. I got paid to "collect" the adult bass that we used for controls.

So every day for a couple weeks I'd get up at 5:00 AM and start clocking hours until about 11:00AM when I'd back my boat up to the Pharmacy building, put the fish in a weigh bag and take them into the holding tank.
