There's no way I can eat less than 1400 calories since starting Turbo Fire. Anything less leaves me hungry and fatigued. I didn't even realize the correlation until I looked back at my workout log. And then it hit me. I wasn't eating enough for the amount of exercise I was doing, which would explain the low-energy and hunger pangs I've been experiencing. When I did Turbo Jam, I was consuming 1300-1400 cals and I felt fine. I didn't experience any of the symptoms mentioned above. Why is my body demanding more food? I also had to bring my deficit down, around the 300-350 range. It was hovering around the 500 mark before.
Has anyone experienced something similar?

I think it's because it demands more of you than Turbo Jam. Did you figure out your caloric requirements in the book that came with the program? Mine is around 1500 and if I go below that I can't perform in the workouts. Have you been to the Beachbody message boards?0

Starting a different exercise routine can sometimes demand more calories because your body isn't used to it and is having to work a little harder. You may also find that now you are that bit fitter, you are probably working harder in your workouts than you used to even though it may not feel like it. It may just be enough for you to need more calories. That is probably all it is. If you feel you need to eat more, try increasing you calories by 200 to start with and see if that is enough to give you more energy. It sounds like your body is telling you that it needs more calories so I would listen to your body. If you are still losing weight after increasing your calories it definitely sounds like that is what your body needs. I hope that helps a little0

The more Work you put your body through the more you have to put in your system.... When I first started I felt dizzy some days But I eat more now then I did when I first started and that seemed to cure my issues and I feel more energetic0

You burn a lot more calories doing TF then TJ. Do you wear a HRM when you workout?0

I went from 1310, to 1500, to 1800, to currently at 2000... and I currently eat back almost all of my exercise cals and I'm still losing a pound + each week. Its a great place to be in and I 100% agree with upping cals to take care of the working out. It also allows you to eat fewer "diet" foods and more "healthy and/or wholesome foods". What I mean by that is I can have more good fats (flax oil for example), but didn't used to because of the calorie count on it. I'm also making my own granola bars/cookies that are packed w/ nutrients that are, at times, close to 200+ cals each.
Ha, so ya... work hard and eat up!
Oh, for the record, I'm a 6ft 174lb male.0 -
I'm still losing, albeit a small amount. Only reporting 0.5-0.6 lb loss a week instead of the usual 0.8 lb. Probably has something to do with me bringing my deficit down. Since increasing my cal intake to 1500-1600 the hunger pangs and tiredness have gone away.
And yes, I wear a HRM when I workout.0 -
Yes - this is exactly why MFP tells you to eat your exercise calories.0

Given my height (5'1") I was afraid that upping my cal intake would work against me. But it wound up being a benefit because now I have more energy. And I'm still losing despite the calorie increase.0

I just weighed in this morning and I've lost 0.6 lbs. I was hesitant to increase my intake in fear of gaining weight, but the opposite thing happened. I'm so amazed and a bit confused. How is this possible?0
