There is a website called freecycle.org. I would make a post of there to see if anyone has one they could give you. Make sure you get one with a chest strap- its more accurate. Also I know amazon has some good cheap ones and so does ebay. I have the Polar F4 and I LOVE it. I got mine from a girl on here so I was real lucky on that! Hope you can find a cheap one - you will be in love instantly!! It makes me want to exercise!

Save your money up and get a quality one. You would have more luck getting a accurate reading by thinking up a number in your head. They are THAT inaccurate. You can buy a Polar FT4 for about 54.00. Trust us!

No, the cheap ones do not work as well no matter what anyone says. You get what you pay for with an HRM, and cheap is something I caution strongly against.

I personally have a Polar FT7 which retails for around 80-100 dollars, but you can get the Polar FT4 off of Amazon for about 60.
Both are excellent HRM's and will get the job done if your looking for just the basics.
  • It is worth spending the extra $ to get a good one. In the very least try and make sure you get a Polar or Garmin with the chest strap - which I think are more accurate. Just make sure it shows calories burned - most do. I got mine from heartratemonitors.com and there was no shipping. I have the Garmin TR20 - don't spend the extra $ on the fancy strap. The one they give you with it is fine. Think it was around $90-95.
Best wishes & don't give up!!!!! Friend me if you'd like... ;)

I bought a Polar Ft7 normally priced over $100 for $62 on eBay! Works great, I use to calculate calories burned!
