No period due to weight?

This can definitely happen. You can skip periods for being too thin & also for being too overweight. Ever since I've been over 400 lbs, my periods have been WAY off track. Sometimes I don't get them for many months - once, I didn't get it for a year. & there have been times when I have gotten my period & it was so heavy I couldn't even leave the house for days.
I've been eating right & exercising for about 3 weeks straight now & my period showed up just last week. Unfortunately, when I get mine now, they last forever because it's so screwed up. Thankfully it's lighter now that I'm eating a lot better. I'm hoping once I get under 400 that I get them somewhat regularly again.0 -
My weight made my periods first erratic, then widely spaced (every three months or so) then gone entirely, then constant.
I think they may be back in line now. I hope. Maybe. We'll see.
Yep, this is what happens to me, too.0 -
well, im 28 and i had a baby 7 months ago, i was on the depo shot from januaray til march and then in april, may and june had only light, short periods and then none now. I can be seen my a doctor for birth control and have it covered since im within a year of having a baby, i was just thinking it was hopefully due to either A) my weight The depo shot or C) the stressfull month i had.
are you on birth control right now? your more likely to get pregnant again sooner after you have a baby rather than later.0 -
It is very common to miss periods on the depo shot. I stopped having mine for a year....then switched back to regular birth control!
THIS too. the depo shot F'ed my periods up. while on the depo shot i wouldn't have a period until i had a shot then it was FREAKISHLY heavy (i actually was bleeding so heavy the Dr's office told me if i continued to bleed that heavy to go to the ER), after that little event at the Dr i switched to a very low dose pill and my periods have been regular ever since. but the effects of the depo shot can last up to 2 years after your last shot.0 -
I think I may have PCOS, too. It's pretty common, isn't it? 10% of women, or something?
I haven't had a period in two years (I'm 27) and have almost every other symptom on the list. Have to wait until I get some insurance again to investigate that, though.0 -
im not on birth control, just using condoms, i smoke so i dont want the pill and i didnt like the shot. Hope it comes back soon. Would they have been able to see if i had PCOS when i was pregnant? Why i ask is i checked out the symptoms and ive been getting skin tags and my neck and underarms look kind of dark and they list those symptoms.0

no they wouldn't have been able to tell whether you had pcos while you were pregnant because the hormone levels during pregnancy would have masked it. Same with ultrasound, it wouldn't have been any help to diagnose pcos during pregnancy.0
