Can someone help me out here? I am going WAY over on sugar, and barely make it with the carbs if not go over on them. But well over half of it is coming from fruits & vegetables. I'm vegetarian, so the standard proteins are not an option. I am trying to re-evaluate what I put in my mouth, but I am running out of ideas on what to eat! Any suggestions, and is sugar/carbs really that bad if it's coming from a banana or an apple?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

If you open your food diary to friends I will try to help you!
I was vegan but began eating meat again about a year ago...0 -

Lol.. I think it's in settings but, I don't totally remember.0

Just watch out for processed foods, they contain tons of sugars and sodium0

I agree^^...
I apologize if this is hard to read I'm on my iPhone
I think it is all the processed bars your logging.I would add in some whole foods, fruits and veggies and more healthy foods. A great snack is veggies dipped in hummus. I have a great easy recipe for hummus if you like it. That is the hard part of being a vegetarian sometimes. I know you love bananas so I'm not going to suggest you stop eating them.
I also have some good vegan recipes that u may like.
I think if you cut back on food that are in packages you would do great. If you do eat eggs and know your going to eat cereal for more than one meal I would have an egg for breakfast.
Soy milk has less cArbs than the milk you are logging, and some Greek yogurts have less than the yoplaits as well.
I hope this helps. I'm not an expert, I'm only trying to help you out.
I have good recipes for veggie soup, hummus, several salads.
Good luck and post on my wall if you would like recipes...0 -
Also some almonds or nuts would be great. They have a ton Of protein, no carbs and some healthy fats.one of my favorite quick snack is almonds and organic raisins. I buy the organic because the add less sugar to them.
Beans would be good but since you already have alot of cArbs you would have to swap it and maybe solace a bar for a bean salad or something.Again I buy organic canned food some of the brands have less sodium and added sugar. The organics use sea salt and cane sugar..
Good luck0 -
Thanks for the advice. The only packaged food I really eat is the fiber bars (oh and yogurt, but yogurt is like Bananas to me, 2 of my favorite foods!). It's hard to get rid of them becuase I work crazy hours and they are incredibly easy. I've been staying away from nuts becuase they are so high in fats, but the beans are a good idea, I just have to find the time to cook them!0

I would say your diet is lacking fat you need to be healthy.Fat is very important.it the types of fats you should consider.
Maybe try and friend some healthy vegans and vegetarians on mfp.I'm sure they would be able to help you. Most vegans eat a high fat diet. You kinda have to when you are a veg... You don't get any meat fat and need to have something. Olive oil, avocado, nuts,, flax oil. I would really go talk to a dietician.
I'm a hairstylist and I will tell you you have to eat healthier for your hair and skin and brain to function.
It sounds like u want to cut the carbs without cutting the carbs! And restricting fat which you are way under on.
By package food I meant cereal, bars and yogurt.
It really isn't healthy and to cut fat and over do it on carbs.
Being a veg can either be healthy or extremely unhealthy.
There is a ton of vegetarians and vegans on here who in sure would try to help u also.
I would buy canned beans
Take care and I hope I didn't offend you.0 -
Well, I am going to try some of your advice. Cut down to one bar a day and add some beans and nuts. On the flip side, what I have been doing HAS been working so I don't want to change anything to drastically at once.0

Good luck! You can totally do this0
