Can someone give me a quick, dumbed-down rundown of macro nutrients and what they're for? I know it's complex, but could anyone just give me the gist or some websites that give simplified info on macros?

I mainly just want to know how sodium, sugar, carbs, fiber, and proteins work together and what not...I've lost 25 pounds and i feel like these last 10 aren't coming off because i'm not paying attention to my macros. I want to have more defined muscle and i know that's all diet (Especially abs) but i don't even know where to start because I don't know how they all work together

It may be a lot to ask... any info will suffice... please :)

Macros consist of carbs, fats and proteins. Carbs are the body's preferred fuel source. A fairly common breakdown is 40% of your daily calories come from carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein. People who are trying to build more muscle typically eat more protein. That's about all I can muster without breaking out the books, hope it helps :)

Edited to add: Okay thought about it some more, sodium helps the body move water into your cells but most of us get too much and then water is stored in between the cells making us puffy. Fiber isn't absorbed by the body but helps carry cholesterol out of your system and most of us don't get enough.

I just started on a specialist in fitness nutrition certification so that's where my info comes from. I imagine you'd find the same sort of stuff in/on any sports nutrition book or site. Good luck :)
