Eating 1/2 my dinner before hitting the gym and 1/2 after?

I usually get off work at 8pm. I eat dinner around 7pm. I usually go to the gym right after work, getting there at around 8:30pm. Is it a good idea to eat 1/2 my dinner before going to the gym and finish the other 1/2 afterwards? The problem is that when I'm done with my workout, I'm typically very hungry. I do notice that it's around 10 when I'm done with my workout and shower. Since I don't want to eat addition calories, would this be a good idea?

    Sounds great. Before and after working out are when nutrients REALLY matter.
