Has anyone else who is on/has been through level 2 having difficulties? I finally got a HRM and my cals burned keep going down a little everyday, instead of getting better and burning more! Why is this? The only thing I can think of is that it's harder for me than level1 and I can't do it as well. Or maybe it's because theres a lot more "strength" in this level than level 1??? Does that even matter? Sorry about all the questions I am just getting really discouraged here. I'm not doing as good or keeping up as much and it bothers me! Thanks for all the help guys!

P.S. Should I just go back to level 1 for now, or keep going on level 2?

Don't know why your calories burned are going down, and can't compare because I do not have a HRM, but I do know there are lots of moves in level 2 that I was unable to do. The plank moves are too hard on my wrists/elbows/shoulders that I modified most all of them. I eventually just skipped through level 2 and went to level 3. I find level three a harder workout, but much easier on my upperbody joints.

I am no expert, by any means, but I have completed the 30DS and now going through it a second time. I don't have a HRM, but here are my thoughts. I think I probably burned less calories as I progressed through the levels, because I got better and it was easier the last part of each level than the first. However, I built muscle and when all was said and done, I had lost 10 pounds and 19 total inches! My thoughts are that if you are looking for sheer number of calories burned, then you probably want to do cardio, and LOTS of it. But, keep in mind that when you are not working out, muscle burns more than fat. So if you are building muscle, you are burning more calories at rest.

I was way happy with my results, even though I am certain i could have burned more with something else. I say keep it up and if you want to add cardio, go ahead! Also, if you did not measure at the beginning, do so now and take some pics, so you can compare later!

stick with it! you won't be sorry!

I just have to say: congrats on getting so far.

30DS bored me to death by the 7th day.

As you do any activity, your body will get more efficient and need less energy to do the same activity. Also, remember HRMs are really only accurate for *steady-state* cardio (ie, cardio at the same pace the whole time - running, walking, even biking or swimming, though they are sometimes less accurate there). Anything with weights, anything with start and stop, and anything where you are not in the same position the whole time - the HRM will be less accurate. (You can look up the user Azdak's blog for a full explanation of why - it's one of his recentish posts.)

If you are having trouble and not able to do the whole thing, why not mix up one day at level two, then one day at level one, then one day at level two again...etc? As you get stronger and more cardio-ly fit, Level 2 will get easier!!

And don't worry - lots of people think Level 2 is the hardest!

That is part of the reason level 2 is so hard for me too.....I'm not strong in the upper body at all so it kills me. The chair squat with the V arm raises hurts me soooo bad, lol.
