Eat More!

I'd been eating about 1600 calories for almost a month now and having great progress (between 3-4 lbs a week) but after reading so much about exercise calories I decided to give it a shot and this week I ate about 1900 calories on days I rode my bike, where I usually burn like 900 calories.
I lost MORE weight. This week I dropped 5 lbs exactly, which at the same time delights me and makes me worry that it is TOO fast. I think I will keep creeping up on my exercise calories, this week going to shoot for 2000.. Anyways, don't be scared, eat them exercise calories!

i have been asking about this. i have been stuck at 130lbs when my goal is 120lbs. many people said i am not eating enough and need to consume more of my calories but i worry that because i have been exercising and eating at the same rate for so long, if i start to eat more i will gain instead of losing0

yes i also eat my excercising calories and seem to be doing just fine...0

I share your concerns. I am 130 with a goal of 120. Those last 10 pounds are like pulling teeth and I feel that if I eat more I'm just going to end up maintaining my current weight.0 -
Jessica, you can always do what I did! I burn 900+ Calories biking but I didn't just want to start off eating a ton more, so I did a 'test' of 300 calories. Add a bit at a time and observe!0

Sometimes I eat my exercise calories, and sometimes I don't. I weight myself every day (bad, I know), and when I hit within 200 of my calorie goal (instead of 500-600 under), I see a loss in the morning. When I hit lower, I maintain. I know everyone is different.. but.. food for thought.0

What harm can there be in trying out some exercise calories? I mean, if nothing else is working, you really have nothing else to lose, right?0

Thank you soooo much for this!
This is EXACTLY what I needed to read! I have been under my calories by 200-300 nearly every day (not always consciously) but I know it's doing more harm than good. I know I need to eat more and hopefully the weight will still come off. I am just scared that I will put weight on.
Anyway, here's to a new week for me starting from tomorrow, trying much, much harder to eat ALL 1200 calories!0 -
Good job!
I always eat ALL of my exercise cals.0 -
You're welcome! I was a bit nervous about adding calories too, but I figured it was worth risking slowing down my weight loss if it meant possibly avoiding a plateau! I am going to slowly bump it up 100 calories a week until I eat all of my exercise calories I think, and then drop down 200 for a week, then back up 200 for a week. I am patient and I want to see what happens0
