Hi,
I m new to counting Calories. I went to a Nutritionist and they told me to eat about 1800 Calories. That seems a lot to lose weight??? I weigh 206 pounds, I m 5'6 and I work out about 4-6 times a week.
My question is how much Calories do you take?

You don’t want to eat less if you are exercising. You will put your body into starvation mode & that slows your metabolism down. Please do what the experts say, they really know what best. Good luck!0

Try it the doc's way first. If, after a few months, you're not seeing progress, try MFP's. But don't bounce back and forth on a whim.0

I eat around 2000 to 2400.
I'm 226 pounds, but have a decent amount of muscle mass.
I typically burn between 3200-4200 per day. I eat around 1000 less than I burn per day and track my burn with a bodybugg.0 -

based on your stats, you can definitely eat 1800 and lose. That is the safe healthy way to do it.
I am 5'2" 110 lbs and I need 2000-2400 to maintain, so you need even more than that to maintain most likely, so 1800 would be a decent deficit.
either set your diary to 1800 and eat that daily regardless of exercise,
or set it to about 1600 and eat that PLUS your exercise calories daily, that way on days you work out you eat more for fuel, and days you don't you would stick to the 1600.0 -

Thank you for you answer's! I m doing this since about 4 weeks. i started with about 1500 calories. I have lost 10 pounds so far. I have MFP set on 1600. On days I miss going to the gym I eat 1600 or a little less and on day's I go to the gym I try to stick arround 1600-1800 calories.
I m also looking for a heart rate watch that tell's me the calorie's I burn. I don't wanna spend a lot of money. Witch one can you suggest for me?

In the meantime, until you get a heart rate monitor, use this:

Take your hear rate manually a few times during your work out for 15 seconds at a time. When you're done, average them together and multiply by 4 to get your average bpm (beats per minute). Enter it in that site's calculator and see your burn rate!
I've used it every time I work out and I'm very satisfied with the results.0 -

look up the harris benedict formula to calculate for yourself your T.E.E.
i am 5'2" fairly active 120 lbs and to maintain my weight i have to eat around 1800 cals.0
