Random but does it have any affect on losing or gaining weight? I have always wondered that.

Some people think that it does.

For me though, I've been on different brand birth control pills for about 13 years, and it NEVER made me gain weight.

Eating and being lazy after having kids is what made me gain :P

Birth control definitely always made me gain. It was weird, because it actually decreased my appetite too, so I was eating less. One of my friends however lost a ridiculous amount of weight on birth control.

It just depends on the person.

According to my doc, BC pills can affect your appetite center. They contain some of the hormones that are also higher in pregnancy, and this can make you want to eat more. But that's about all they do. If you exercise and stay within your calories, the pill shouldn't affect your weight loss efforts.

I always gained about 5 lbs when I started on the pill (after pregnancies), but I'm pretty sure it was just my appetite picking up. I lost 18 lbs when on Mirena (IUD, uses similar hormones) by diet and exercise, and it didn't seem any harder because of the hormones.

Mine haven't made me gain any weight. Eating out like I have a super metabolism, being overall lazy, and not working out made me gain weight. I am on them for my PCOS and have found the cravings I get are worse/stronger, but I'm sure it's just the hormones.

I started BC and MFP at the same time, but I don't think it has hindered me at all. It might even help because I only get TOM every three months, less cravings and moodiness that way.

I've been on the pills (different types) but I've never blamed the weight gain on the pills.

When I first started mine when I was 17 my appetite skyrocketed but I didn't gain anything. Then it all evened out.
