how to push through workout when sick..

I have an AWFUL cold, achy body, all the good stuff! I'm able to eat (had a Luna bar this morning), and on my 3rd cup of water... No coffee for me today, my throat is already burning enough, I don't need hot coffee to push me over the edge.
ANYWAYS.. I always feel better when I work out, and with colds, I feel better in the afternoon, so I would like to go workout today.. nothing too intense, but light weights and maybe a job.
Should I do this? Or just rest? My appetite is nothing, but I managed to eat my luna bar in a whole 45 minutes. How can I force myself to eat? I don't want to workout if I haven't eaten enough.
Any advice?

I'd say rest, your body needs all the energy it can get to fight off the cold and heal before you get back into exercising.
I hope you feel better very soon.0 -
I would say go just be mindful of your limitations. I find sometimes that when I am feeling mildly ill a good workout can help me feel better.0

I hateee skipping when sick, so I only do if it's a stomach problem or too much pain. I normally divide my workout in half and take it easy, so maybe a 30 min walk. Feel better!0

I found this article that gave some guidelines ... when to work out if you are sick ... when not to ....
Personally, I'm in favor of getting outside into fresh air ... obviously, stay away from gyms, etc. Most of all, pay attention to your body, and stay hydrated.
Good luck, and feel better!0 -
I'd say do it if you feel up to it. Your body will tell you when you've had enough!0

When I feel like that, I do yoga. It is nice and light but gets you moving. I usually find that I feel more energized afterwards.0

I would rest, as working out when really sick makes me feel worse. I wait until I'm on the mend (still sick, but getting better) to start working out. Plus, when I'm that sick, I don't want to eat anyway so it's easy to stay under calorie limits.0

I just got back from a wedding this weekend so I'm beat to heck myself. I find that extremely light intensity workouts are the best for me. Normally I try to grind out between 600 and 1000 calories through cardio and hit some weights, but today for example I did 20 minutes of stationary bike at half the resistance I normally set and about 2/3 the rpms. That at least got my blood pumping some. You do need lots of rest, but if you're like me and are worried about breaking routine I'd say just make sure you keep it extra light.
Now if somebody has a trick for working out through a hangover...0 -
Generally I say rest b/c you body needs to energy to fight the virus. But if you feel ok I agree a slow walk or some yoga would be great. Make sure you stay hydrated no matter what. anf if you don't feel much like eating make sure your food choice are good.0

How about walking? Burn some calories, get the blood moving, enjoy the fresh air.0
