6 down!!! My birthday present to myself

Hello fellow myfitnesspalers. I just had to share the good news. Today I stepped on the scale and it said 133! I started out this journey a couple months ago at 139... I'm not even 5'2" and small boned, so that was quite a lot for me and I thought, time to do something about it. I went on a crash diet, as usual, and lost about a pound, then gained most of it right back. I would lose a couple, gain a couple, etc. and it was so frustrating. I *knew* could be in good shape if I was dedicated (the picture to the left is from over a year ago when I was training for a trail race that consisted of running 5,000 feet up the Sandia Mountains... I had not looked like that since I finished the race.) So I thought, it's time to get dedicated and stop this madness.
That's when I found MFP, at about 138 lbs (in the midst of rising and falling with weight due to my crash dieting and crash workout plans etc.) I soon lost a couple pounds. Then I fell off the wagon for awhile. Again, yo-yo'ing. It felt like it would take me *forever* to lose the weight I wanted at the .9 lb a week rate that MFP prescribed for me. So I just stopped trying. In October I found a chart I had made when I started MFP, listing the pound or so I would lose each week, up to (what was) my goal weight of 125 by my birthday, which is on Tuesday. I realized that if I had stuck with it, I would have been almost half way there, and that was way better than what I was doing (nothing, or crash dieting).
So, I came back. I have been doing things the right way, slow and steady. I had a bump over Thanksgiving vacation when I was visiting my family in PA where I ate more than I should have, so I re-gained a little bit, but when I came home I knew how to eat well again and work out, and now I am dropping weight right on schedule!! The Thanksgiving bump did not deter my progress... on my new and revised (since coming back to MFP in October) weight loss chart, I was supposed to be at 133.7 today, and I am at 133.0!
I only have 8 more pounds to go until I reach my goal of 125. Even though it won't happen by my birthday (now it's set to happen by Valentine's Day hee hee), I am so proud of myself for sticking with it, staying patient, and not getting discouraged. I feel that this is the best birthday present I could have given myself!!! It's not even about the numbers, it's more about feeling healthy and realizing that I *can* get trimmer and stay trimmer if I stay focused. The numbers coming down sure do help me stay inspired though.
Good luck to all of you in your journey.
