I downloaded myfitnesspal a few weeks ago and I used it for a couple of days and fell off the wagon :( I tell myself everyday (several times a day) I need to get back into shape and eat healhier but I still go back to a bad routine of eating unhealthy and not moving my butt! I want to get back into shape and feel great and get my self confidence back. I have a weight loss goal of 50 pounds and it just seems overwhelming sometimes.I know i need to just take one day at a time, just so hard to do when I want it now! I have previously lost over 160 pounds so I know what I need to do but why am I not doing it? I guess that is only a question I can answer...
Any advice. motivation, or support would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I feel the same way and have been on and off again but I need to get in the grove and really do somthing and I know it only take a day at a time. maybe we can be helpful for each other on keeping it going and supporting each other. Let me know if you have found anyone else that will lend support to someone that is really busy and hard to give too much time to posting and really needs to find dome awesome friends. I also would like to know how to get the message board on my phone then it would be easier to do this daily.

Good luck to you and hope to talk with you soon.
  • 50 pounds is a HUGE goal. Break that down. Don't try and swallow it all at once. Think about how long you want to take to get there. Say 6 months. That's only about 8.5 pounds a month. Still pretty daunting, so how about you lose about 2lbs a week? That's perfectly doable and manageable!

From there you can create a plan. Maybe 3 days of cardio and 2 of strength a week. Eat about 1400 calories.

See, no big deal. YOU CAN DO THIS!
  • Hiya :)

I know exaclty how you feel. I'm the same. I know i feel bad, i know what to do, i just struggle to do it. I think it's about getting motivation and inspiration to keep going, even on the days that you feel like you can't be bothered.

My tip would be to not let a bad meal turn into a bad day.

I used to do it all the time. I would start a diet and then by day 2 lunch time i would give in and have a chocolate bar or something. Then in my mind i've cheated myself so i may aswell cheat for the rest of the day and leads into a massive binge!!! These days if i do fall off the bandwagon ...and lets face it we're not perfect and we all fall off from time to time then just jump straight back on and push aside what you've had, maybe do some exercise to try counter act some of it or at least improve your well being. If you feel good about it you'll do better.

totally understand where your coming from and if you need any inspiration or motivation or just a chat then your more than welcome to add me as a friend

    Good luck xx

My first goal I have set is 50 pounds by Christmas. It has taken me a long time to finally decide that I have this in me to do! I don't feel too bad about myself. I can take some pics up close that don't show the true story but when I see myself in photos other people take...uggh! It does help that my husband has agreed to do it with me this time even though he makes me mad that he can have over twice the amount of calories than me and still lose more! I went and bought a shirt that I want to wear this fall and hung it where I see it everyday. If it helps take a very unflattering picture of yourself and put it on your fridge and on your phone screen saver as motivation. I know that we all have it in us to finally decide when enough is enough and you have to come to that decision yourself. YOU CAN DO THIS! :)

Definitely. I have set myself mini goals to make it a little less scary!

You'll do great, just forget about the lapses each time and just get straight back to eating well and exercising. If you find you ate too much at lunchtime or just had to have that cake but are now feeling bad about it, go for a brisk walk or do some exercise and decide to eat healthily for the rest of the day. Ok, so you might go over your calories for the day but you can minimise the damage with a little exercise and healthy eating for the rest of the day and do better the next day. Nobody's perfect. Don't let one little slip-up ruin the day/week for you.

If you find you are lapsing often, try keeping a "Food and Mood" diary. You may find that you just HAVE to eat when you watch TV or when you're talking on the phone to your friends but at other times you don't think about food. Look at what you can do more of and how you can prepare yourself for those times when you just have to have something to nibble on. Perhaps have some easy, healthy snacks in the cupboard or fridge ready for those occasions.

You can do it. Just keep going and don't let anything stop you :-)

Definitely set smaller goals. And reward yourself when you meet them. They can be little rewards that don't cost a lot, but it helps a lot. I can't remember what my reward was for my first goal, but I know my second one was to buy new underwear. Stupid, huh? But I was really happy with it.

    You can do this!!
