Slow and Steady Wins the Race

I need to keep reminding myself of this. I am losing weight but very slowly. I've been basically staying within my calories and walking a lot (I have a Fitbit and that has really helped to get me moving).

The scale shows only 5 pounds lost in 2 months and I've lost half an inch on my waist and hips. Sometimes it's a challenge to keep going because I want to lose more quickly.

And then I remind myself, if I don't go up in weight that is good. And that my pants fit more comfortably.

So I'm focusing on slow and steady. And frankly, that works for me. If I tried to slam myself into a totally new way of living, I'd be more likely fall off the wagon. So more slowly changing my eating habits and moving habits, I hope that it'll stick.

I do know that I'll likely have to keep tracking my food for the rest of my days. I lost a bunch of weight doing this before an stopped tracking and there it all came back.

Doing my best to keep my focus on better health and not on being all skinny, and thought I'd see if others out there are taking a similar approach.

It is very frustrating sometimes.Even following my plan of exercise and diet, and MFP telling me that I should be loosing two pounds a week, I am lucky if i loose a pound a week. but I feel better, and my doctor says my blood pressure is excellent due to all the exercise in the past year.At this rate, it could take more than a year and a half to get to my goal. but i have to look at it the same way. i am not gaining, and i am getting healthier.
I think your plan is the best for you, and I wish you great success!

Thanks. It's a challenge for me when I see folks losing 10 pounds or more in a short period of time. I have to stop myself from comparing myself to other people. My main goal is to get my cholesterol down and to not end up with diabetes like all the women in my family do who gain weight. No before and after pictures for me. :-)

But I sure as heck will post my before and after cholesterol. And lest you young 'uns laugh about this, just you wait. I used to think to myself, "I should probably worry about my cholesterol" as I was stuffing sour cream into my face. That was when I was in my 20's. :-)

    Thanks everyone.
