Meditation and positive thinking, "the Secret"

Looking for a little help, lol, I keep reading that to help with inner peace we should meditate for 30 mins at the end of each day, I find I have a hard time visualizing, does anyone else meditate and visualize? Can you give me some tips and maybe how to start being able to visualize better. My roommate and I have decided to really remove the negative out our lives and focus on the positive, I have been reading the secret, for a second time, to try and really bring my positive energy to the front. Has anyone tried using the secret? Have you noticed changes by using positive thinking?
