Feel like I am eating too much!

Alright, So...I am brand new to this site! My cousin told me about it and so far it's been helping out a lot! So, i use the app on my Droid mostly and it told me i should eat around 1,400 calories/day. I want to lose 100+ pounds. But i am concentrating on the first 50 pounds for right now. But anyways....I seem to be having trouble eating all my calories. I end up eating around 900-1200 cals per day. I don't want my body to go into starvation mode but i also don't want to sit there at the end of the day and have eat more you know? Seems to defeat the purpose of dieting. But...If i do try and eat all my calories, i feel like i am eating too much! what is going on here? I scan every barcode with the app and log EVERYTHING i eat, i just seem to have trouble...

Wow, I am trying to hit 1,200 cal a day and I am STARVING. Maybe you're eating a lot of nutritionally packed food that keeps your feeling satisfied? I wouldn't necessarily eat MORE if you're feeling full - but I would make sure that you're not going to shock your metabolism. Seems like I burn fewer calories when I diet.0

I know how you feel about being full and not hitting your calorie mark (in your case 1400 cal). If you eat whole, natural foods you can eat A LOT for not so many calories...
However- always eat AT LEAST 1200 calories
If you are having trouble reaching that number, perhaps you should eat some more calorie dense foods like nuts! or peanut butter
Good luck on our weight loss journey!0 -

Definitely eat more nuts! That's what I eat when I've logged my exercise and have alot of calories left at the end of the day.0 -
Like others said, NUTS! Pistachios and walnuts are great, very healthy fats.
MFP's default protein value is low, so eat more protein-rich foods too.
Also, just making sure, are you checking the portion size in the nutrition info label? One bag of food usually contains multiple servings!0 -

I do check all the serving sizes, that's for sure. A lot of the things i eat are single serving portions anyway (lean cuisines, smart ones, special k bars, fruit) Ill try to buy some peanuts or cashews when i go to the store next time. thanks guys!0
