Can someone fill me in on the best kind of rice to eat?

I love me some chicken and rice. I could live off of it but I don't think I'm eating good stuff.
Any suggestions? And be aware, I'm in Australia =)

I like brown rice :) Yum yum. It's GREAT with chicken!

Brown rice is the most nutritious I've found. And it's microwaveable. Put 1 cup of dry brown rice and 2 and 2/3 cups water in a bowl. Microwave on high for 10 minutes. Then microwave at 50% power for 20 minutes. Add a little bit of salt and butter or margarine if you'd like. (Because I have to watch my sodium, I use a product called No-Salt, and use a little bit of Smart Balance Original Buttery Spread with Flax Oil. It's non-dairy.) :)

Consider Quinoa. It has lots of amino acids and is really good. Much better than rice, IMO. I prefer it over even brown rice.

Well brown rice is about the same calories wise to white rice and has the same about of carbs and protein. the main differences between the two of the rice is the processing. Serveral vitamins and dietary minerals are lost in the removal of the layers and sometimes these are added back to the white rice.

I personally would prefer having a smaller portion of white rice, espeacially with stir fries, curries etc... I dont mind brown rice in salads ...

Just make sure you wash your white rice first until the water is nearly clear...

I always thought brown rice would have a different taste to white.
As you may have been able to tell... I have never had brown rice lol
  • you had mentioned to wash the white rice before cooking it? Why is that, we never washed it first...

To get rid of the excess starch, I rinse it about 6 to 7 times..... also seperated this grains better when they cook. So they dont stick together.

Basmati rice has low GI index, even lower than brown rice apparently. It tastes great too.

I eat brown rice, but Jasmine white rice is the choice when I go to a family party or if I'm eating adobo.

But isn't there certain rice with certain foods? like the best rice for chicken or whatever.

I know I could eat it constantly. If I could find a good way of cooking my chicken and rice I'd live off of it.

    Chicken and Rice diet?

If I had to pick one type of rice, it would be wild rice. Deliciously nutty and with a nice bite to it. Mmmmhmmmm

Basmati also comes in brown... it is often the choice of rice used for cooking Biryani, Pilaf or Kheer....

Most Indians like to used par cooked rice which is mostly unavailable in Western Countries, well it is in Australia.
