  • Sodium is not good for you in any form. I would get your thyroid checked if its been 3 months.

I'm thinking this for myself as well so I changed my calorie goals to 2,000 and will see if it helps!

In any form? The natural sodium found in vegetables and fruits isn't bad for you. You body requires sodium to fuel almost all cellular metabolic reactions including nerve function. Granted, your body does not need an excess of sodium, that's when the bad effects set in. To counteract having a sodium excess, increase your potassium intake. Sodium and potassium work together in the body via a cellular membrane pump.

Check out my diary if you want any ideas on keeping it low sodium. Basically increase fresh foods and decrease the boxed and frozen.

Your diary isnt currently tracking sodium so I cant necessarily view how much you are consuming but remember this

2500 mg of sodium is the MAX recommendation for a 2200 calorie a day diet.

If you are consuming that much or MORE on less calories there is something very very very wrong. Current studies hold that you need 800-1200 mg of sodium for normal cell function, even in people doing vigorous activity (this does NOT apply to atheletes), and even in those drinking more then 8 cups of water a day. Some studies are finding out we may need as little at 500mg/day for normal cell function. Your body does nothing but store and retain excess fluids to store that sodium when it cant use it, unless you help your kidneys flush it out with extra water.

Well, to start with 5'7" and 130# is a very healthy weight. Attempting to get down to 120# at your height is a push. Maybe you have a slight/small body frame?

Regarding sodium, you aren't tracking it in your diary. Go in and change it to see (and then we can as well) what your totals come out as. From the looks of it, you are likely around 2000-2500 (average). That is fairly high, but not outrageous.

Another thing to look at is the accuracy of your food tracking. If you've got that down, then it would then be about how many calories you are actually burning a day. Your diary shows you eating most/some of your exercise cals and over 1200 net - which is great.

Since you are already at such an ideal weight your body is going to put up resistance to losing (I know this very well!).... and you will want to only have about a 250-500 (max) cal deficit each day....and the losses will likely be S....L...O....W. But that is OK!

    Good luck!

Since you are a Mom of two young children, a baseline activity level for you should be Active. That is what I am set at and I have 4 kids. I also workout a lot, but not super strenuously. My base cals are 1540... and I am just now trying (its hard for me!) to eat at least that many - sometimes more given my workouts. I went for MONTHS without losing anything (except the gained pounds above what my starting weight was). Now I have just recently lost a little over a pound -- and the only thing I changed was to EAT MORE (but healthy food).

I also have a BodyMedia armband that I wore for about 2 weeks straight. Best investment I've made in a long time. It told me (with about 10% +/- accuracy) that I generally burn about 2500-3000 a day!! Craziness! I never would have guessed that much -- and I am well, kind of old now ;-). So really what I should be eating to lose is closer to 2000 if now more a day... but I rarely will do it. Each day I try, but don't really allow myself. It's a process for sure.

You are young and active, I bet you are burning at least the same if not more on some days. It does also depend on how much lean muscle you have. My body frame is medium and fairly muscular.

Anyhow, thanks for the add btw!
