Whenever there's a birthday, marriage etc. in our office - it is that persons responsiblity to buy cake... and LOTS of it so we can all gorge ourselves silly throughout the day.

Today is the FIRST day since working here for 4 years that I haven't touched one bit of it, i didn't even look at it!

I EVEN prepared my salad at lunch right next to the god damn boxes and my hand never slipped in once!! NOT ONCE!!

I am thrilled with myself, and just had to tell you all!

I hate all those office celebrations. I suppose the one bright side of having coworkers scattered in all different time zones is I don't have to deal with all that crap.

My office is like that too, but with cupcakes! Every other week there are cupcakes for someone's birthday or...just because! Good job turning away, cake is a calorie-goal-killer!

I am the diet breaker here at work because I'm taking a cake decorating class. Every week I have to bring something in (this week was a cake, next week is cupcakes) to work on. I do eat a small slice of it though because HELLO!?! I made it and I want to taste it damnit but I get rid of it the next by bringing it to work. It looks so yummy right now sitting in the break room all blue with white polk a dots but I won't have any. I know what it tastes like and that's good enough.

    GOOD JOB!!

Good job. It is hard when you are constantly tempted like that.

    LOL! Proud of you.

I stopped partaking in cake eating for birthdays about two years ago. I love cake but I save the indulging for truly important dates like my kids birthdays.

Every other week I have a staff meeting with the department manager over lunch. Usually I can skate by with an over-salty piece of chicken and a pile of mixed green salads. I've had guys at the meeting give me a hard time, especially when I first made the switch to healthier eating, but I don't care. I'm doing what I need to do to try to be a healthy me.

But they ALWAYS order a cookie tray from the catering company for the meeting. These aren't little cookies, they're the big Otis Spunkmeyer cookies., And somehow it ALWAYS ends up in front of me at the table. I usually just slide it back down to the other end of the table (in front of the skinny-as-a-rail guy who eats like 6 cookies during the meeting then takes 4 back to his office with him "for later").

It was the toughest habit to break, not just instinctively grabbing a cookie off the tray. And the double chocolate chunk cookies....**drool**...they're my work-food kryptonite.

(Also managed to break the "I'll grab a pile of cheese cubes because they're low carb" habit -- that ain't no low fat cheese that Sodexho provides!)

The worst is breakfast meetings in our office... they order the best pastries around and then put a huge pile in the middle of the table... with not a lot of healthy choices to pick, i must say.

Happened again today, another Bday!! this time THREE full boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts!! so far haven't even looked in their direction (i know they're there though - it's almost like their calling my name!!)

Congrats on your weight loss btw, impressive amount showing on your ticker!!

    Well done you! :flowerforyou:

Our office has a 70/30 bias female to male, so office birthdays are often celebrated now with fruit as well as cakes and sometimes also savoury treats. It used to be at least once a week, but nowadays it's probably less than once a month we have cake days.
