I wuz Santa claus!!

Really! Our local village asked me to be Santa Claus (for the 2nd time) and so Ezzie was Mrs. Claus too. We got to ride the big, red, firetruck thru town, then we sat in the Town Hall for a couple of hours so the kids could tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas, and get their pictures taken. It was hosted by the Junior Clio Club, and they have been doing this for 45 years now.
One of the most precious moments was when a young boy, and younger sis in tow very shyly wouldn't come see Santa at first. After a few other kids went thru, he pulled his sister along, and made her do the talking. After a bit, he worked up the nerve to ask me where the reindeer were? I could tell by his somewhat skeptical tone that he was a tough customer, so I merely replied, "Up at the North Pole, where they belong. I took an airliner down here to be with you today". Then we chatted about what I had brought him last year.. a truck? ...a Remote Controlled Truck? He nods to both. So then, after seeing his cammo jacket, and his Dad's John Deer baseball cap, I looked right at him, and asked. "So, if I remember right, Brandon, wasn't it a pickup truck? A mudder, maybe?"
His jaw dropped, and his eyes got big as saucers, then poked his sister and mumbled something into her ear. She then turns and looks at me the same way. LOL! They both run back to Daddy, and then run back to me for hugs all around.

Believe me, if that didn't get me in the mood for Christmas, nuthin will! It was such an incredible blessing to see the children's faces light up when they got to sit on Santa's lap. even the children that were "too old" for Santa were grinning *chuckle* I told them your never too old for Santa. when they would proudly proclaim that they know that Mommy or Daddy doesn't believe in Santa, I would just say that sometimes grownups forget that Christmas really does have it's own special magic, and that magic starts in your hearts.



..oh, and Santa, I'd really like to lose about 45 pounds next year. Only thing is that Ezzie says that sometimes I'm better when I'm naughty?
