I am 26 years old and currently 156 lbs, 5'0". I've heard that you should consume a minimum of 1,200 per day so your body doesn't go into starvation mode. But I'm much shorter than average. Does this amount apply to me?

1200 is not that much. lol Eat it. I was on 1200 a day for 2.5 months, i stopped losing weight so I switched it up to 1500 and the lbs are coming off again.

    I am 5'7"

Your estimated BMR alone is just about 1500. You shouldn't be eating below your BMR.

I would start with a 1600 calorie intake per day. Make sure your protein and fat macro intake are at their minimums for your stats. Give it about 3-4 weeks at this level of calorie intake. See where your weight goes.
