My son has a scan of his gall bladder schedule for tomorrow and the tech said no fat and no dairy after 230. Well he is a 17 y/o male who loves to eat so I need to figure out what I can feed him for dinner. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you

No fat? Is whole wheat pasta non-fat? Pasta and spaghetti sauce with some veggies?

If his appointment is in the morning, just don’t eat or drink ANYTHING after midnight. Before that it doesn’t matter what you eat. I just had a HIDA scan done, if he has food or liquid in his stomach, he will vomit.

Egg whites with some salsa on a no fat tortilla? You could cook it in the microwave so you don't have to add any oil. Or maybe just a quick spray of pam.
Fat free chicken broth with a ton of veggies and canned tomatoes and No yolk noodles or rice.
I think pasta sauce has fat?

Please let us know how he made out. I'll keep him in my prayers.

If he eats fatty food the test could come back with a false positive. I would do what the Doctor said. NO FAT>

Yes, do what the doc said. However, your reasoning doesn’t make sense. If it is a HIDA scan all they do is inject you with the radioactive tracer, then contract your gallbladder to watch the rate at which the bile flows to your small intestine. If you don’t eat after midnight, you will not have anything in your system regardless of what you ate prior to midnight.

By all means, follow the advice of the stranger on a message board and ignore the doctor. That's what I would do. :-)

Pasta and marinara sauce sounds like a good idea. Make sure if you use jarred sauce that it doesn't have oil in it, though.

For the record, I did say to listen to the doc and I also just did this on Fri of last week.

He is having 2 seperate scans, I don't know the names just that the doc said dinner must contain no fat or dairy and nothing to eat after midnight.

It may very well be different than my procedure, listen to the doc. Typically a gallbladder scan is a HIDA scan though. The other scan may just be an ultrasound, but I am just speculating.

So it was an abdominal ultrasound and the a HIDA scan. He tolerated both of the tests just fine. Now we just wait for the results.
