1 lb is about 3,500 calories so unless it was only part of a pound it isn't possible.
I added in the about because it's only approximate.0 -
Your weight gain will be due to water retention from either the food's water weight or a higher sodium intake. Try only weighing yourself once a week for a more accurate picture.0

most likely water weight... thats why scales are unaccurate.... and as for your question it takes a full year to build 5-10lbs of muscle... that is if your training and diet in perfect check...0

A pound of muscle isn't 3500 calories, a pound of fat is about 3500.
Chances are that worst case she gains some water weight.
OP, muscle takes a lont time to build. A male is lucky to put a halfpound on in a month.0 -
I have read where some say weighing each day gives you goals and keeps you focused, while others say once a week is best. You just need to find what is best for you. Either way, don't take a single day up as a bad thing. More than likely it was water weight. Just keep up the good work and the results will show!0

Beginner bodybuilders with proper nutrition, a solid training regime, and consistency can put on more than that their first year of training. 20-25 lbs their first year, sometimes more genetic depending.0 -

That's true. I'm not totally untrained but I was out of lifting for probably 12 years. Started back up and 6 months in the bodpod showed an increase of 9.6 pounds of lean mass. So, I've been averaging around 1.6 pounds per month of lean mass. It will be interesting when I get the next one done in another 3 months or so to see if I'm still gaining or not.
So, I'm down about 25 pounds in 6 months but if add in close to 10 of lean mass that I've gained it's more like 35 pounds.0
