Bump. I am thinking about trying one myself next year. Would love to know how in the world you are supposed to train for one of those.

Where are you doing Warrior Dash? I did it in Minnesota in July this year and it was a beast! It was UP a ski slope but it was completely awesome! You really need to check out yoru course and see if it's got hills. I would work on running on a treadmill. Use an incline if there will be hills or in my case a ski slope. Do lots of upper and lower body strength training workouts. It's a lot of fun. It's not going to kill you! Good luck!
  • I've been dying to do this! Anyone in NH here who'd like to sign up with me?

**edit** we'd have to travel or do it next year but it's worth training for! =)

If it's in Afton Alps again be ready to climb! It was a great time but the slope at the very begining about killed me. I wasn't prepared for that.

of the 2 i've done...minimal training other than just being able to run is needed. The obstacles are climbing things and swimming through shallow water so nothing really hard...its really just a party in the mud

LOVE Warrior Dash !!! Hills, hills, and more hills !!! It's an extremely well organized event, lots of fun, lots of laughs, but it is TOUGH !!! I did one in Barrie Ontario last month and will be signing up for another next summer. For training be sure to incorporate lots of hill climbing, and my suggestion would be to use some ankle weights when doing some running to simulate the effect of having big gobs of heavy mud on your shoes for 3 miles ! Might want to do some upper body strength training as well to help with the climbing obstacles. Practicing crawling through a mud pit is entirely optional ... :)

I did Warrior Dash this January in Lake Wales, Florida! My friends and I had so much fun we are probably all going to do it again. BTW: We were all in COSTUME for the dash. The crazier you look, the more fun you will have :) Trust me, if you do decide to wear a costume, there will be someone at the race who looks 10 times crazier than you!
