How do I break my plateau?

I've been stuck between 128 and 131 for weeks! I upped my calories about a month ago to 1400 calories a day. I've started adding weight lifting into my routine but that just started this week. Should I give it a little time to see if the weights will do the trick?

Also, I'll be honest but I don't always net 1400 calories. Is it likely that could be the issue? I know a lot of people don't eat back their exercise calories so I get an intake of 1400 a day but a lot of times it leaves me with a net of 700 to 800.

Any suggestions or ideas? It's the last 8-11 pounds (depending on what i weigh in at in the morning) so I know it's harder to lose it.

:)

had the same problem. I upped my calories to 1500 and i went from working out everyday to every other day. Some how i have lost 3 lbs in the past 2.5 weeks since the change.
I also dont eat all my calories all the time, i think i am zigzaging without trying.

I'm right there with you...it's those last pounds that have been insanely hard for me. The advice I was given was upping my calories and changing up my exercise. I've tried eating more this past week and I usually just run and try to mix it up with some exercise tv on demand. I'll let you know if it changes by next week or so. What's your height? I'm at 5'4 and have been stuck around 127-128 for the past 2 weeks...hopefully that will change.

Sometimes it's just the numbers. Exercise calories are usually pretty skewed unless you have an HRM, but they aren't 100% accurate, but much better than anything else.
I would try only eating half your exercise calories for a week or two. You need at least a 500 calorie deficit every day to lose one pound per week.
Lifting weights is great. Give that a couple weeks too.

I was stuck for 3 weeks straight. I increased my water a lot!!!(doubled it) No carbs at all and increased my protein. I also worked out every other day instead of every day, and after doing this for a week and a half straight, I lost 3 lbs!! Good Luck!

I don't always net over 1200 calories by day either, but I try to average 1700 over the course of the week. If you have isolated days at 700-800 cal/day you're fine, but if it's consistent you might need to up them a little.

High Intensity Interval Cardio has been shown to get rid of "stubborn fat". I'm not at the point where I need to worry about stubborn fat yet. I'm still working on the normal stuff, but my brother has been doing it and I can tell how cut he's getting. Basically warm then Run/Sprint for 30-60 secs alternating with walking for 60-90 secs. Do this for 15 min. Then just walk for 15 min. From what I understand High Intensity Cardio is good at breaking up fat cells, but can't use them for energy. Lower intensity cardio can burn the fat for energy.

3 words: Change it up. Change your routine, whatever it is that you are doing. Different exercise, less or more exercise, eat less (if you are eaitng more) or more,if you are eating less!
