Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows any natural way to 'fade' stretchmarks?

I haven't had children, but i presume they are there from gaining weight!

I have them on my arms, thighs, stomach and breasts, a lot of them are the white ones and not too noticeable but i do have a few red/purple ones!

I was happy today about losing weight and actually thinking of summer and maybe daring to wear a bikini if i reach my goal weight.........NO WHEN i reach my goal weight!

But i looked at my self in the mirror and noticed that i have quite a lot of unsightly stretchmarks! its not fair, i do something about my weight and can't wear a bikini anyway!

I heard maybe some vitamins help? And that there is a lotion i could make from normal products mixed together?

Has anyone faded them significantly?

Thanks
Amanda

you really can't get rid of them that easily... I am 25 and have them on my hips and thighs. I rub Cocoa butter on them. It keeps them from getting worse... and of course weight loss... Last time i lost weight i got rid of them completely.. Fat is hard to keep off though too :grumble: (I can't remember correctly... but i think the purple marks are newer and are easier to get rid of)
There is some skin repair from Shaklee that you can check out too. I used it to get rid of a deep scar on my face that I got when i was a kid. It should do the same for stretch marks... they are, well, scars. keep them moist lots of butters and lotion.

    Hi
    Thanks!!
Thats reassuring that you got rid of them when you lost weight!!

I hope that is the case! Especially the purple ones! I don't mind the white ones as much.

I will look into that lotion too! I think i have some cocoa butter tho in the meantime!

There is good news and bad news.
First the bad news. Right now there is nothing much that you can do about that. Tanning helps a little to make them less noticable, and there are creams out there that help a VERY little.
Other then surgery though right now there is nothing that can be done.
    Now the good news.
Through the wonderful power of science, test have proven that scars and stretch marks are lessened with fish oil taken. They are working to see if they can strengthen that compound to make a solution that works. Untill that time Tan lightly, take your fish oil tabs, and cream up.

  • Begin rubbing vitamin e oil all over your trouble areas, use it liberally. I have a female friend who has had 4 children and has a pristine body. Her body type is in between petite and average. No stretch marks from 4 natural births and none on or around the belly. She attributes it to the liberal usage of vitamin e oil.

Three things that I would suggest are

    1. Bio Oil - I have used this for a scar but it can be used for stretch marks as well. It has been great for me.

    2. Merderma - Another scar fading cream that can be used for stretch marks - I've used it before and it worked great

    3. A fading cream - My mom used a fading cream (sorry I don't have the exact name) It is used to even out skin tone but also works on discoloration from stretch marks or scars

    Hope this helps!!!

I got them big time with my son. He was 9 lb 7 oz a week early. I only gained 10 pounds with him. After having him NATURAL   I had really wide ones. They were purple. Good thing they are all below my belly button. 9 and a half years later I had my daughter. I used coco butter cream everyday twice a day. She was 8 6 a week early c-section. Gained 3 pounds with her. No new stretch marks. I just keep them moisturized and they are fading over time.
I have some on the back of my knees, and I notice them getting liters as time goes by.
Don't know if that helped any.

i would be careful with tanning... wrinkles are harder to cover...
  • I bought the lotion that has the collagen elastin in it, & that helped mine fade & I also used skin firming lotion...

I have three kids and the third one gave me killer strech marks. I used a stretch mark reducing cream put out by Avon and it made them fade a lot. I know they will never go away, but this cream was great.
  • Thanks for the tips! I'm in a similar situation, and it is good to know I'm not alone...

My doctor told me all lotions were bull crap. I have personally never tried any but my mom used cocoa butter with me her first child and it didn't work at all. I notice the more weight I lose the more the strechmarks fade. also just as time goes on they seem to fad. i do agree with the tanner you are the less noticable. I vote don't let your strechmarks keep you from losing weight though. I guess my ultimate opinion would be if you have tried everything and you have lost enough weight to be to your goal or within bmi index then the only option left would be cosmetic surgery of some sort. Good luck with everything, hope mine fade real quick too!!! :-)
