I enjoy eating out, too what I try to do is go online and view the menu/nutritional info before I go, and plan out my meal before I set foot in the restaurant. I don't even look at the menu! I'll enjoy my drink and visit with friends... and try to be the last one done (I tend to eat too fast).
that's really helped me the last few weeks! if I know I'm going out I can "budget" my calories to accommodate dinner most places have something that healthy (or healthier), and yummy!
junk food is a whole other battle for me. I LOVE chocolate, in any form! I've cut out candy bars and switched to fiber one 90cal brownies (I've tricked myself into thinking they compare! LOL) and I budget in REAL chocolate when I need to.
it's all about moderation. you CAN gave that _______ - you just have to plan for it and not go buck wild0 -
No magic tricks but increasing clean protein and drinking more water helps me. I notice that when I am not drinking enough water that's when I tend to snack. Sometimes I think I can't read my bodies signals at all - I think I am hungry but the food doesn't hit the spot so I eat more. Then I have a big glass of water and feel better.0

i have a problem with junk food too...make sure it's not in the house...and if you HAVE to have it in the house, make alternatives...like instead of doritoes, i buy hemp and flax seed tortilla chips and salsa...or instead of chocolate, have cocoa cheerios on hand. I love chi tea with almond milk too, helps with the mouth addiction lol. I cook all my meals for the week on Sunday, so I knwo exactly what i'm eating, and I hate wasting food so I won't opt out and go out for dinner...plus you can put the $10 you'd normally spend on supper, and put it in a jar...when the jar is full, go buy some clothes. It took me a long time to break the habit of eating out, now I just have to be better prepared. Last night damn near killed me, I wanted McDonald's (I passed 4 of them on the way home from my meeting) and I NEVER eat McDonald's, it's gross...but I was out of food in my purse and hadn't had supper yet. Preperation is the key, and tons of water.0

My advice would be to find some other hobbies that give you the same joy and happiness. Photography, reading, jewelry making, knitting .... something to get your mind off of the junk food. At restaurants - give yourself half of what you realllly want! Get the dish you want and tell the waiter to bring a box with the food.... as soon as the food comes - put half in a box. And don't try to tackle both struggles at the same time.... pick one and keep your focus.0

This is not any thing any one wants to hear but the only trick in my opinion is too simply quit cold turkey. Throw it all away and stop buying it. Its hard. I find that for most people if you make it a week without TRULY eating junk food you will be fine, the first two weeks was hard for me but my mind was so dedicated too it I ate a strict regiment of grilled chicken, lots of vegetables, salads and fruits, with kashi go lean cereal for breakfast and my snacks consisted of fruit all day. I got the sugar I needed through the fruit and switched to diet sodas for the caffeine, though no soda is the best.
Ive been doing this for 50 days today and have lost 33 lbs, the weight loss was fast at first now its slowing down. I am slowly allowing myself the occasional treat but that is after in my mind I know I wont go back to my former way of eating. My treat today was 10 jelly belly beans at 40 calories total.
Also- the first week is tough, your body will go through this strange icky feeling detox process where its sweating out a lot of the crap you have been ingesting and you will feel tired and groggy, fight through it the next week and the rest of the time is great feeling.0 -
thanks everyone for the help... almost one week done.. and i am not dead yet.... not easy though0
