hi folks,
i'm relatively new to mfp but loving the concept of this. as a mature 48 year old i thought i knew all there was to know about losing weight - just haven't managed to do so successfully for a number of years. But all that's about to change. i think i've been deluding myself about my diet which hasn't been that great but also about the need to literally step up to the plate with regards to exercising.

It's quite a shock to see what i consume since i've been keeping my diary. although completing the diary is quite time consuming i can see it's worthwhile as eventually you have a personal database of your favourite foods, recipes. i also think the diary will help when i 'm struggling as i'll be able to see at a glance what's worked before.

Anyway i love reading all your stories. The message boards are inspirational so thank you all who contribute - us newbies need your encouragement. It's only a couple of weeks since i joined but already i've lost 5 pounds and don't feel i've really had to make too many changes or put in a lot of effort. I'm so glad to have heard about MFP and, as a result the chance to get fit and healthy!!!
