We had a major ice storm here, with power out for over 24 hours and no Internet for two days. I'm finally able to get back online. (Many people are still without power and it may not be restored for everyone until Wednesday.) I had to eat whatever I could scrounge from my cupboards that didn't have to be cooked and wasn't spoiling. I've been completely thrown out of my routine. It's easy enough to slide back into old habits, without something like this happening, especially when my old habits weren't that old yet. Ugh. I was *just* starting to feel like eating clean was second nature, and now part of me is feeling like it's "too hard" again. I know it's not, because I was just doing it! Between PMS (TOM *finally* started yesterday!) and the storm , I've now had several days of eating some of my old foods, and part of me doesn't want to give them up again. :grumble: But I received my first issue of Clean Eating Magazine today to help get me back on track (I hope)!

It's been quiet here! How's everyone else doing?

I can't even remember what I ate today... on the run all day and then at the movies this afternoon for my dd's bday. I forgot to stick a protein bar or something in my purse but totally resisted the popcorn and sodas!! NOT even one piece of popcorn!! I actually went too long w/out eating and by 6PM was starving so I had my usual oatmeal & a banana!

Hope you all had a good one!

    Jess

Happy Birthday, dd! How old?

I got some protein bars today. I prefer not to eat them because to me they're still a processed food, and full of sugar, but I've come to the conclusion that they may the best thing to have in a pinch sometimes, simply because they do have a good amount of protein. If there's nothing around except processed food and sugar, I'd rather it had protein in it! I had a Clif Bar while shopping today, and it *was* more satisfying than a regular granola bar.

Off to get some inspiration from my new magazine! Good night.

I stepped on the scale this morning, and that was motivation to get back on track. I'm right back where I started! I tried to put on a pair of my dress pants, and they were too snug! I also felt a little hung over when I woke up, from all the less-than-healthy food I've been eating over the past few days. Yet another reminder for me that I MUST count my calories and watch what I eat. I inevitably treat anything less like a free-for-all. :grumble: With my refrigerator restocked after the storm, I am SOOO looking forward to getting back into eating good food!

:flowerforyou: TIP OF THE DAY: Cook your oatmeal in herbal tea water. I used Celestial Seasonsing's Vanilla Hazelnut this morning and it added a delicious flavor!

    Breakfast:
1/2 cup dry oatmeal, cooked in herbal tea water
    1 sliced apple
    1/4 c skim milk
    1/4 c egg whites
    1 Tbs flax
    2 cups water
    Daily vitamins
