Low Sodium Levels

Hi folks,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if having low levels of sodium in the diet is bad in anyway.
In the last 30 days there have been four days where I ate more than 1400mg, and fifteen days where I ate under 700mg.
I don't do a lot of exercise, so rarely worry about salt loss through sweat, but just want to check whether or not this lack of higher levels of sodium could be bad. I have made my diary open for the moment, and appreciate all input. I'm vegetarian and eat a lot of homecooked meals.

Many thanks!

Note: I don't deliberately skip breakfasts, but being unemployed I am often late to rise, and usually get some fruit in before lunch.

I think some of the items in your diary list the wrong amount of sodium. For example, the olives you had today. Check product labels and compare to MFP's user provided info.

    Have a great day!

You know I never thought to check that! D'oh.

The olives don't list the sodium content in the nutritional information, but salt is one of the ingredients. So i guess I have nothing to worry about :)

    Cheers.

I think it is suggested that one has at least 500mg per day, and I try to keep my sodium as close to 1000mg as possible, but I am living in a very gentile climate compared to some parts of the country this summer,

    I do not exercise either,

but do not go too low, saw a family friend faint from too low sodium years ago when her doc told her to cut out salt and she went extreme, she did not have mfp data bank to track,

generally lower sodium is a very good thing
