Who is using a pedometer?

I use a pedometer every day to try to break that sedentary habit. I'm a new retiree who had a desk job, and sometimes it is too easy to get on the web and stay there all day. From what I've read about pedometers, you need to do 10,000 steps per day to be active and healthy. Most days, in the house, I will average between 3,000 and 5,000 steps. So I make a point of boosting that activity level to make sure I get the full 10,000. I do this by walking the dogs 8 km usually. I really like it that my pedometer counts calories and distance traveled.
Does anyone here use a pedometer? If so what is your experience with it?

I have a WW pedometer that I don't use every day simply because I haven't gotten into the habit, but I love seeing how many steps/KM I walk each day!0
