For all you runners out there! What shoes are the best for running? I bought new balance which are way better than my nike's but I'm sure there are better ones. I heard Brooks were good. Any other suggestions?

Not sure but I think the best thing would be to go get fitted for running shoes. That is what I did. I ended up getting the Ascis Cumulus 13 which are so comfortable for running!
  • Yes, definately hit a speciality running store (like Fleet Feet) and get fitted. They will get you a shoe that is specifically for you. I also have Asics and love them!

go to a running store and get fitted. it will be the best thing you can do for yourself. running is hard on your feet and body. "running" shoes found in traditional stores will not be nearly as effective in support as those bought at a running store. a good store will watch you walk/run and show you what shoe you need.
  • It's a matter of preference and what works best for you. Like others said, get fitted by a professional and once you find a brand you like then stick with it. Good luck!

I got fitted for running shoes - they had plenty to choose from, but I picked new balance. A running store will let you try a lap around the block before you buy (or at least on a treadmill). That way you can pick what feels best to you!

This is an unanswerable question. Everyone's feet and biomechanics are different so what works for one person could be the wrong thing for the next. Get fitted at a good running store, not an athletic store in a mall. They should watch you run and look at your gait and ask questions about your mileage etc and put you in the best shoe for YOU.
  • Where are you located? I live in Dallas and we have this placed called Luke's Locker here. They specialize in helping you pick running/working out shoes. They look at how you run and your arches and all that stuff. Then, they can give you several options on the best shoes for you based on what kind of working out you do. If you don't have Luke's Locker, there might be something similar in your area. Asics, Brooks, and Saucony are all great brands for running shoes, but the right style depends on each person.

If you are in Texas, here is the Luke's Locker website:

New Balance makes a great running shoe, as long as you didn't get it at Shoe Carnival or another outlet store, and did get properly fitted. NB makes a lesser line for stores like this. As a general rule, if the model is less than 500, it is an outlet shoe.

I find that Asics are the most comfortable. I have a little wider foot. Make sure you also buy half a size bigger than you normally wear. Your feet swell as you run!:)

The best shoes are the ones that fit the best, both that fit your foot and that fit your stride. Over pronators, under pronators, high arches, flat feet... everyone is different, and shoes within the same brand fit different.

My last pair were Asics which I really liked. I bought another pair this summer and they don't fit me well enough for me to run in... so you can't just find a brand and stick with it. I'm running in New Balance this summer and the Asics I bought initially have become my casual wear sneakers.

DEFINITELY go get fitted, or at the very least go to a store with a LOT of sneakers and try on a bunch of shoes from a bunch of brands.
