I seriously need some motivation. Lots of issues have popped up of the last 30 days. I was on the fitness wagon until vacation, when I got home from vacation every bit of motivation was gone for about a week, then I started back only to have scheduling conflicts to that did not allow me to workout, you have to sleep sometime. I have been doing ripped in 30 with Jillian micheals when I can, maybe once a week, but I am trying to parent 3 small children, I have two jobs, and I am trying to finish my bachelors and RVT school at the same time so I am finding it hard to get the motivation to workout, and eat right. I am exhausted. I will say I have actually lost weight but I think that is due to not really having a lot of time to stop and eat, and when I do eat it has been crap food. Advice and motivation is greatly appreciated.

Just keep going at it. Unfortunately there isn't anything anyone can say to motivate you, that comes from within yourself! But you could try looking at the success stories and before/after photos. It's very inspirational!!!
  • It sounds as if your life is particularly chaotic right now--just reading about it exhausts me. It might be helpful to remember that exercise doesn't have to come in half hours time periods. In fact, for weight loss it is probably better to do several short workouts throughout the day. It kind of jacks up your metabolism repeatedly. You might do something like jumping jacks when you get a whole 2 minutes alone in the bathroom or jogging in place while you are waiting for the mac and cheese to cook. As for motivation this is the first day of the rest of your life and as we all know, life tastes better slim and in shape. It is worth the battle. Hope this helps or at least lets you know people are hoping the best for you.
  • Hi, you are very busy, doing so much to better yourself and your family. You are an inspiration. :) I don't know how much time you actually spend sitting down but have you thought about chair exercises? I know people who do them and am considering looking into it myself as I spend 5-6 hours a day sitting for work. My friends have had really good results and it is low impact so you are not stressing your body with it.

Wow, that sounds like so much!!! Can you get some help with your kids? Or how about from them? I can't imagine all that at once, though I know it's possible. Any way you could get an inexpensive stationary bike with a place to hold your reading material? I used to do that when I was in college before--read while riding. Also, if you record lectures while in class you can replay them when commuting or walking. I did that with language, science & math--really helped to keep me focused both on subject matter (especially stuff I was bored with). I would walk in the evenings, breathe some fresh air, look at the trees and listen to lectures. (This works most times except for right before finals or when papers are due.) I wasn't a parent yet, but I will probably be doing something like that when I go back to finish my degree.

Just try to focus on the big picture--remember, health first (make time for you daily--even if it's only 5 minutes to sit and breathe), then family (after you have your "you" time, then your family has you), then finances (job + school, which will later = 1 job). Big picture thinking helps you reduce stress by focusing on what's really worth stressing out about.

    Remember, you can do this!
