HRM OUT OF ZONE

I recently purchased Polar FT4 HRM and I am out of my heart rate zone on the maximum side when I workout. I am constantly having to slow down to stay in the zone but I find it annoying. Does it really matter if you're above your max? I would just assume you burn more calories at a higher rate or am I wrong. It's usally an average of about 7-10 beats above max. Any exercise physiologists out there who can shed a little light on this subject? or doctors?
