Afternoon Slump

I wasn't sure which category to put this in, but what do you find helps you with an afternoon slump in energy? I get up around 4:00 in the morning to go to the gym, so by around 4:00 in the afternoon, I'm starting to really lose my energy. I still have an hour to go at work, so I can't take a nap. I usually have a little snack that has some protein, but I'm still feeling pretty sleepy. I go to bed around 9:00 at night, so I get around 7 hours of sleep each night and wake up easily in the morning and am ready to go to the gym. Any suggestions for the afternoon time?

Thanks.

Bobbie

    sugar free red bull....
    ok no the best advice...sorry:embarassed:
sometimes I will take a small break and take a little walk...that helps too....
  • I like something with a little sugar, like a piece of fruit. The simple carbs give me a little jolt, and a cold piece of fruit is pretty refreshing. The protein you are eating now is probably great for the long-term energy, but maybe something with some (natural) sugar would help for the short term.

But, I have been known to crack open a Diet Mountain Dew on particularly tough days.

I no longer get an afternoon slump! Didnt realize it till your post.

I think it is because I eat every 3-4 hours. Protein, Carbs and Fat.

So I am never hungry and never tired! YEAH!:flowerforyou:

You know, that's one of my favorites, too. Maybe I should pick up a few to keep in the fridge!:drinker:

Thanks for all the replies. All good advice.:flowerforyou:

an apple with peanut butter. The sugar in the apple for the quick energy and the protein in the peanut butter to help hold me till later.

Get some fresh air. Even on cold days in the NW...I make my co-workers take a little walk outside.
