There's no set amount just try for 12-15 cups and not sure if you've done some exercise that would help =] don't worry too much about it.

I think the solution is to stop eating out so much.

Edit: I see you are going over for just one day. Then don't worry about it.

Agreed. Even chain restaurants are considered fast food because their meals are rarely prepared fresh. Often the food comes frozen or in bags for the 'chefs' to just re-heat and the food has tons of sodium. If you do eat out stick to small family owned restaurants where the food is prepared fresh and you can log it by one ingredient at a time.

I consistently go over 1000 - 2000 in sodium daily. I don't think I'd worry so much about one day.

You can add some fresh lemon juice to your water, that would help some.

WOW see I probably do not worry about sodium enough because I am focused on calories, "good fats vs bad" and trying to get enough protein, calcium, etc. I am noticing that even though I am doing everything "right" I cannot seem to get the last 10 pounds off. I thought perhaps it was my water intake (which I am increasing), but sounds like I should be decreasing my sodium as well. Which is not easy!

And what does lemon juice do to sodium in the body? Do tell.

Personally? I go out to eat so rarely that I don't give a damn about going over my sodium on occasion. I'm well aware that I will show about a 5 pound "gain" on the scale the next day, but I don't panic because I know it's temporary.

If you're doing everything else right, and don't have any medical conditions that would make you HAVE TO restrict your sodium, enjoy your evening out and don't worry about it.
