I am Weak

My one fast food weakness is Baja Blast Mountain Dew (which can only be found at Taco Bell, so of course I have to grab a soft taco or two while I'm there). That stuff is like crack!
So when my son begged me to get him a cheese roll-up from Taco Bell for lunch, I knew I had a problem on my hands. I had a delicious southwest salad waiting in the fridge, yet as I sat at the window I heard the words "Number X with a large Baja Blast" come out of my mouth.
Back home with my booty, I tried to rationalize my choice."There can't be THAT many calories in this cup of deliciousness...I've been good; I deserve it...2 days of nothing but water, what's the harm"
Nevertheless, I began I wonder how much damage I'd done to my day. I came to MFP and found that there are more calories in this one giant soda than in the two tacos I ate! That means I can either starve for the rest of the day [not gonna happen] or spend an extra hour on the elliptical. That's the moment when another learning tool clicked in my mind: I need to think of those "extra treats" in terms of how much exercise it will take to burn them off. Had I sat at the menu and thought, 1hr for a large or 20mins for a small, its a no-brainer. Got a craving for something sweet? Those cookies look delicious, but for a mere 10min jog, that frozen yogurt is even tastier.......heck, in this heat, I can do without both!
So, I was weak, but thanks to MFP's resources and some support, I'm getting stronger. Can't wait to see where I'll be 6mos from now with some dedication and support, but I definitely won't be holding a large soda when I make it there. :-)

    Good for you!!

I was an emotional eater and since joining MFP, I have overcome that issue. It's still a struggle...when I get stressed, my first thought is 'Where are the Little Debbie's?', but I've managed to resist. No more rewarding my accomplishments with food. Jewelry and clothes are much more fun!

Again, good for you for your recent enlightenment!

good lesson to learn. but if you ever find yourself faced with that situation again, you could bring food from home with you to keep you from buying more than just the soda. then get a medium with A LOT of ice. the medium cup will make you think you have more but the massive amount of ice will ensure that its probably the same amount of calories as the small. cuz well, ice is solid and takes up space. i used to work at taco bell (for two years) and believe me i know how good that junk is! you think its bad just being addicted to the soda? i had a serious food addiction! i'd eat t bell sometimes three times a day! i'd crave it on my days off. it was horrible. and its not just the extra 35 lbs i ended up with that made it so bad. i can't imagine how horrible that was for my insides to endure. but i also learned that if i cut it out entirely (at least right off the bat), then i'll end up resenting myself and cave within two week and go buy a 5 buck box. so instead, i've been weaning myself off slowly. maybe once a month i'll go to t bell. i'll get a burrito and i'll bring my own water to drink. so much better for me than three times a day lol
