Does anybody else have this problem? I haven't ran in years because when I do my ankles start to feel like there burning kind of like my thighs do. And my ankles feel like they are going to give out on me so I have to stop running! But I really want to try running again tonight! Anybody else have this problem and or thoughts?

Have you ever gotten fitted for shoes by a running store? Just a thought...

I had that problem and now I am in an air cast for aggravating my tendon. Listen to your body! Jog if you must, and give your body time to get in gear.

Like Amyrc12 said, you might want to check your pronation and get a shoe that fits for you. It could be that your step puts a lot of stress on your ankles and that's why they burn.

start out by walking as fast as you can, then jog for a minute, then go back to walking. once you do that, try jogging for two minutes etc. you just have to work up to it. i used to think i couldn't do push ups because it hurt my wrists too much but now after starting with all push ups and then working up to the "girlie" push ups, i am able to do them with out my wrists aching. just take it in steps and you'll get there!

I don't know how heavy you are but I know there is a long history of people who are in the obese range running and getting foot and ankle injuries. For some it can be far too much pressure on the ankles and feet. If your feet/ankle hurt, take a couple days off, see if it gets better. If it does run again. If it doesn't give it more time. If after a month or so you still are having this issue it might just be too much pressure right now.

This happened to me too when I started running about a month ago. Like most people said, I got new shoes and I feel so much better! The runners I had were old and didn't offer much support. I bought a pair of Asics and I love them! So comfy!

Thanks everyone for their thoughts! I haven't had my feet fitted by an actual running store. I don't know if there's one anywhere around here honestly. I have had my feet fitted just to see exactly what size I am if that makes sense? Or is that the same thing? Like at ****'s Sporting Goods? Yeah maybe I'll try just walking and jogging.

I'm 5'5 and I weigh 162 so I'm not that heavy honestly! I used to be over 200 lbs but that was when I was pregnant and I haven't tried running in about 3 years I guess? So I guess I could try it tonight and then see how I do since I have lost some weight.
