I want to eat everything in the house.

Goodness, I struggle. I plan my meals for the following day so I won't be tempted to eat junk and be out of calories by noon and STILL every day around 3 p.m. I feel like I could eat the entire house. I also feel this way in the evenings before bed. It's not like I'm not allowing myself enough calories-- I eat around 3,000 when I AM sticking with the plan! (I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 306).

When I'm not trying, I eat and eat and eat (binge) until I am so full it makes me want to sleep. Sadly, that is a comforting feeling and I wish I could break that cycle.

I am typing this right now because I am tempted to go in the kitchen and eat a lot of cereal.

ack!

  • DONT GIVE UP!!! I definitely feel the same way sometimes :) I've wanted to "quit" about 6 times since I started two weeks ago but I know the only way I'm going to be happy with myself is if I really give this a total shot. Try to drink water when you are feeling super hungry like that, go outside and "play", clean, anything to take your mind off the food you really don't need.. good luck - I know you can do it!!

I'm not sure what you're eating, but what you're eating could have a lot to do with why you have cravings. Here are some basic tips that might help have you feel fuller longer and reduce/eliminate cravings:

    1. aim to drink 1 gallon of water each and every day. water helps fill you up and drinking enough water will help the kidneys, which in turn, helps the liver process food and burn fat.

    2. eat protein with every meal. protein also helps fill you up as it takes longer to digest than sugar.

    3. eat foods that have a lower glycemic index value. these foods don't cause a spike in insulin...which, in turn, creates hunger pangs.

    4. cut out or largely reduce grains...that would be breads, white potatoes, white rice, etc. ... and sugars, other than natural sugar in fruits.

When this type of feeling hits me, I need to do something to keep my hands my busy or do something else that I just can't eat and do at the same time, like clean the floor or ride my stationary bike. Here's my suggestions:

When the urge hits, have a big glass of cold water then go for a walk. Even 10 minutes is enough to get you out there and moving and should help to bust that urge. Then brush your teeth. Take up knitting or some other craft which keeps your hands busy when they'd otherwise be idle. It's amazing what you can do at the same time as watching TV.
