Medifast??

Hey. I'm not into scam diet plans or diet pills, I've lost my weight with calorie counting and exercise and a whole lot of support from my MFP friends. However, a friend of mine started a plan called Medifast (it has prepared food) and lost 15.5 pounds in her first week. Since I am at that last 10 pound phase, and seems to be stuck here, the idea of Medifast is appealing. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and what they thought? I just need something to bust through this plateau.

Medifast isn't recommended for those with less than 15 pounds to lose. It is around 900-1000 calories a day. I did try it for about 6 weeks and lost 20 pounds. The food isn't very good, and is highly processed, as well as full of soy protein. Eating real food has helped me lose the last almost 20 pounds in around 12 weeks. The weight loss is slower, but I'm much happier and eat almost twice as many calories most days. Since you are very close to goal you might want to change your goal to .5 pounds a week, and eat more to lose the last 10 pounds.0

Honestly I wouldn't bother with Medifast if you only have 10 pounds to lose. It will likely not work any faster. It is only recommended with people with at least 25 lbs to lose. Also unless you do the transition plan after you reach goal people tend to gain back alot of weight super fast. It basically low carb which you could without the overly processed expensive foods. The counts on Medifast are no more than 1000 cals daily with a 40/40/20 ratio. And you don't get to eat your exercise cals. It is also recommended that you don't exercise more than 45 mins on this plan.
ETA: I did use it to lose most of the weight but once I started to focus on getting fit instead of just dieting I stopped losing once I increased my workouts. Just wasn't enough calories to sustain my current fitness plan.0 -
Don't do it babe! Losing that type of weight so quick must mean that your friend isn't getting adequate nutrition. You are doing just fine. The weight will come off!0

Agree with all the comments here. You are doing extremely well. Maybe change up the exercise routine to shake off the plateau0

Would going on Medifast be a bad idea if you are on prescription weight loss pills from your Dr?0
