I sing in a group that travels a lot and I was just wondering if anyone else sang either professionally, at church, etc?

I used to do the traveling around singing professionally thing, but now I'm helping lead worship at my church!

I don't sing professionally but I do sing in our community choir that does a performance every summer. I wish I could sing more. Once my kiddos get just a bit bigger I'm going to start singing at church again.

I miss it. LOVE to sing!!!

Yup, lead the group at my church, play out with my brothers, and also do an acoustic set on occasion with some friends

My husband is a musician/signer. I can sing, in my car and the shower :) But I have an awesome ear when it comes to music. I can hear and distinguish any section of harmony.

I love singing, although not quite sure how good I am at it.
People usually say that I have quite a "cute" voice.
I'm not sure how I'm supposed to take that :/
  • I don't know how professional we are yet but I'm the vocalist in an indie folk band :)
  • I sing and play guitar (both electric and acoustic). Used to be in a band but work has consumed that part of my life since then!

This is me. 14 years of choir, solo-ensemble competitions and 24 years of musicians in the family will do that. I can also read music and I know HOW to play many instruments, I just don't actually play them other than the occasionally messing around.

I do love to sing though.

Not professionally, but I sing in church choir and worship band and with a musical theatre group and Shadows tribute band. Play around on guitar and keyboard, write a few worship songs, just love it all :O)

Me. I was in a kids traveling music group from 3rd grade until 10th grade. I quit then to study opera which I did through college. I never could quite get past the stage fright to audition or perform in anything but a chorus. I wish wish wish I had just done it. I miss it terribly now. I still use it but not in the way I had intended.

I used to play the guitar and sing with my best friend in high school, but now only in the shower. :) My husband sings all the time. I get worried if he goes a few hours without singing.
  • You put the song in my heart, dear.

I did a lot of singing in high school and in the beginning of college. I actually had to dye my super blonde hair black to sing the lead of Maria in West Side Story. Now I only sing an occasional wedding. It is definitely true what they say if you don't exercise your voice you lose it.

Not me, but my 21 yo son is in his final semester of studying classical voice at university with the aim of being an opera singer.

He has also sung (for his school tuition and then for real money) in church for 12 years, but was recently sacked because he got too loud :-)

He has just recorded a new composition for a friend's final semester assessment that is in Icelandic and ancient Greek and next week will be recording a new composition of I Corinthians 13 in Latin.

He has sung in French, Spanish, Italian, English, German and Russian, but is currently studying German because he wants to study in Austria.

Oh and by the way, he had second stage cancer last year, had to have his whole torso opened up and 9 weeks of chemo and he still managed to get a first class honours result for his studies.

Later in the year Dame Kiri Te Kanawa is coming to his uni to do a master class, fingers crossed he gets chosen to sing for her!
