This is something that tends to worry me, after I lose the weight will I have excess skin just hanging around or will it tighten up, is there anyone out there that is looking at losing up to 85-100lbs or has lost that much. What happens? This actually scares the hell out of me.

I am looking to lose a total of 85 lbs. I have lost 57 lbs already and yea I am going to have to have a tummy tuck. I also had 2 kids 18 months apart with c -sections so that is no help. But I think when the skin is stretched so much it is really hard if not impossible to get it to snap back. But I would rather have extra skin that does not effect me health wise than the extra weight that will.0

hey ladies!
Im in the medical field, and can tell you.. Im sorry but for the most part.. 70-80% of the skin will not tighten. Especially such a drastic amount, as the result of hard work and the weight loss.
Every and all types of abdominal workouts will need to be done to tone the rest!
It will be hard work, but I can assure you, you will not be able to tighten the lose skin without medical procedures. Anyone watch skin deep? Women who have had children always go in after significant weight loss, due to lack of elasticity they were left with! Good show!!
Basically a win-lose situation.. The more you lose, the better you look and feel.. but the more you lose the more skin your left with.
When losing the weight, I recommend wraps to draw out toxins, and help tighten lose skin at the time.. It may help along the way, instead of your body dealing with 100 lbs of lost weight at once!
There super relaxing too!
Hope this helps!:flowerforyou:0 -
I also think genetics has alittle to do with it. I've seen women who have had 3 kids with no stretch marks or saggy skin. I unfortunately wasn't blest with that privalage and I have saggy skin on my lower belly, my upper belly is fine but my lower belly is a real problem area. I'm hoping to someday be able to afford a tummy tuck. But for now I'll live with a jean tuck, You know where you tuck the extra skin in your jeans.0

I'm not sure if it's different for guys but my skin is shrinking with me I have not reached my goal yet but have lost 50 so far and my skin is nice and tight. I think the slower you lose the weight the easier time your skin has adjusting to your new body. Good luck extra skin or not still equals a longer life.0

If you ever watch dramatic weight loss shows you will hear the doctors say over and over again that when you first loose weight your skin will more than likely be baggy.
Elasticity goes away with age, the younger you are the better your skin will tighten up after weight loss, however, you need to give it 1-2 years for the skin to "settle" before you go under the knife. I am 35 and have lost 31 lbs with about 76 to go if I go for a lower BMI. Yes, I can see skin that may not fair so well, especially the breasts. Take care of your skin as you loose weight, lots of moisture and water and give it some time and you may find that you are pretty happy with the way you look.
Besides, would you rather have to consider having a tummy tuck or a breast lift or would you rather stay heavy???
I choose saggy skin over big *kitten*! :laugh:0
