I am 21 years old and weight 250. I was a colligate athlete till last October I ruptured 2 discs in my lumber. I had surgery and the doctor said I had to lose at least 60lbs, it would be better if its 80lbs. I tried to diet for a while, but pulling all nighters and running to classes means eating whatever I can grab and CHEAP! I used to love my size, I thought I was an amazon, but slowly things are "re-settling" and my muscles are starting to jiggle. Now I just feel dumpy and I am ready to get on this weight loss!!!!

    You can do it!!!!
  • Feel free to friend me :0) I have 62 left to go (originally had 86 to lose when I started MFP)....We can do this!
  • Good luck with this journey - while in college I maintained a relatively low weight because I walked everywhere. I dont know if the surgery impacts your ability to move, but if you can...walking to class and activities is a sure fire way to burn calories. Another thing to look out for is salad items on fast food menu's (everybody has a salad these days and they are not too expensive) - skip the big mac and order a salad or for even cheaper food buy frozen veggies that can be easily cooked in a microwave and added to any meal. Just keep trying and know that you can do it - you are young and you've got time on your side. All the Best!

I'm in the same boat. I was in a car accident two years ago and gained about 60lbs while healing, I was already 30lbs heavier than I wanted to be. Well, I'm all healed up and rearranged my Fall semester schedule to accommodate healthy eating and exercise. My goal is also 80lbs.
