I'm 20 and getting married next year. I've tried dieting before, going online and looking for 200 calories recipes, low carb, low fat, vegetarian (that was a bust...) The Shangri La diet, ... everything and nothing worked, so I turned to an all female's gym for help. Since then, I have been exercising regularly (2 to 3 times a week and hitting the target heart rate the gym encourages us to) and trying to eat healthy and while my scale didn't drop, my measurements have. However, I still look as chubby as I have been 4 months ago and I really don't understand why.

What I am really looking for is to pin point out my problem to find a faster way to lose weight. Those gym equipment scanning things said that my metabolism rate is that of a 60 yr old woman... -.-. That's terrible, perhaps I should do something about that? Diet wise, I think I'm doing pretty alright, unless I happen to be terribly mistaken... Here's more or less my diet routine:

Breakfast: Mr Bean's 3 in 1 beancurd. 25% sugar. Peanut filling.
Lunch: Yong tau fu. more tou fu for proteins, no noodles, no carbs.
Dinner: Pretty much whatever I feel like eating, and of course, ill make the more sensible choice. Sometimes I do not finish my portion, and sometimes I do.

Fast food: about 2 times a week, usually macs: i'm taking salad mcgrill, minus chicken skin and no dressing.
Drinks: water, cold and SlimSpa detox tea, sugar free.

Again, what I am really looking for is to pin point out my problem to find a faster way to lose weight. I do not understand why I am not slimming down. Please help me =(

From what I can see, you are not eating enough greens, not drinking enough water and eating a lot of processed things.

While I agree everything in monderation, could you not substitute the MacDonalds for something better? Even if you want to indulge, do so with real food, not processed chemicals.

    Just my two cents.

Maybe you are not eating enough, i don know how much calories you are consuming. Also check if you are in starvation mode! Just a thought.

It's hard to say without seeing your diary??? I think the fastest way to lose weight is to eat almost exclusively wholefoods, limit processed food or de-natured food to a bare minimum, no junkfood (maybe one small thing once a week) Low to moderate carb intake, good protein with each main meal, with a focus on an excellent vitamen and mineral intake. Also very important are the good fats! (i.e not mcdonalds) Just from what you have described your diet is not balanced and excercising 2-3times a week is probably not enough.

To lose 1kg (2pounds) per week, you will have to decrease your calorie intake by 7,000calories per week. This is because 1kg of fat contains 7,000calories. Fat is just stored energy (i.e calories) so if you are doing this you WILL lose weight. Don't give up you can do it!!! :)

Yong tau foo is basically boiled greens. so Im getting loads of veggies like broccoli, eggplant, and green leafy veggies like kang kong and kai lans.(sorry local names for the veggies, not sure what they are overseas or if they DO sell them overseas. but they're leafy greens =) ) Thus for lunch, no carbs, just loads of greens, tao fu and clear soup to keep me full.

But YES! i have a problem with the water issue. Seriously, like I keep on forgetting to DRINK until i feel thirsty. Which i know, means my body is already lacking water. I have a bottle of water beside my screen, and is visible in peripherals but i only top it up... like once? its a 0.5l bottle =( I know that's terrible. any advice on that one?

And noted on the processed food. BTW, is soy beancurd and rice balls process??

About calories, the last I ate (today's beancurd and lunch) I consumed probably around 450) that's wayyy too low and to think I just started counting today! Do you think my body's in starvation? Cause i do not feel real hungry... lunch is at 1 to 2 and I can wait till 6 plus for my dinner without discomfort. I'm not sure if that's what starvation means but I have had advice to start 4 meals a day first (add a fruit around 4).

What do you guys have for dinner? My breakfast and lunch are pretty alright and easy to get anywhere in my country but for dinner, I don't seem to have a standard food type. Based on my breakfast and lunch diet, what should I have? Carbs? Protein?

You have to make yourself drink it. I had a similar problem when I started coming here and found I had to really make an effort to make myself drink. Set an alarm to remind you if necessary or make yourself have a drink every time you have to get up or something. You do get into the habit of drinking more after a while, I used to struggle to drink a litre a day, now I'm almost up to 2 litres. Still not enough really but I'm getting there.

*Feels encouraged* Yes, we can do this! I'll take a sip everytime I get up, AND i'll post reminders on the screen for every 5 mins. hahaha. drastic, but i really want to get into the habit of drinking water. WE CAN DO THIS!

It depends really, for myself I eat protein with each main meal plus 2-3 very small snacks. I eat more carbs early in the day, and very little in the evening. If you are doing everything right ie: less calories, more excercise etc... then it's a scientific fact that you will lose weight...If that's not working then a check up at the doctor may be needed? Good luck!!!
