Hey all,

I recently tried some pilates videos and so far I am kind of liking it. I don't feel like I am sitting around and sleeping like I do with Yoga, but I also don't need to have crazy energy like I do for cardio.

So I'm thinking about just doing pilates a few times a week in place of my strength training on the weight machines at the gym. I will still hit the gym at least three times a week for my cardio.

I am wondering if people have seen good results with Pilates. My problem has been that despite losing a pretty decent amount, I have seen very little in terms of losing inches. Will Pilates help me start to lose the inches if I combine it with cardio?

Thanks! :flowerforyou:

I would have to say the type of pilates determines the inches affected!

There are some more intense types of pilates workouts which will cause greater reactions. I personally love my pilates reformer. Can't wait to start using it again once I am healed up (just had surgery)

I do pilates 1-2 times per week. The test is... do you FEEL it after you work out? I feel sore all over after doing sets of yoga. I do a DVD that breaks the routine up into 10min segments... abs, buns & thighs, burn, flexibility, and weights. I really have seen a difference in my love handles/ab area using the Pilates DVDs. Although you don't work as much muscle in upper body as you do in strength training.

    Good luck.
