Jogging vs walking ??

I started jogging like 2 months ago and I really really enjoy it. But last week I was so busy that I slacked off and missed like 5 days of doing anything and didn't eat that great either. Well this week I tried to get back into the swing of things and it is so extremly hard to get back to jogging. I feel like I have cinder blocks in my shoes. Well instead of jogging I have just been walking. I have noticed that my legs are so so sore. I dont really get it. I was not sore while jogging so why in the world am I sore from just walking?? Do you use different muscle when you walk vs jogging? Do you not use as much muscle when you jog? I have also been getting horrible side cramps, I make sure I drink enough water so I am not sure what is causing this. I feel like I am in a slump and I can't get out of it. I know this will not defeat me but it sure is trying to like everything is working against me to stop me from getting back to jogging. Has anyone else experienced this???

This happened to me with spring break. I traveled and didn't workout. When I came back my coach had us do jog and 800, I thought I was going to die and before that we would run over a mile a day. His rule was if you miss a week of jogging, it takes usually 2weeks to get it back to about were you left off.
Its the pace and pressure you are putting on the muscles and ligaments that differ between walking and jogging. Jogging is more high impact on your body than walking is. Also I might recommend a great running shoe, our university was sponsored by Adidas, but our distance runners preferred shoes like Asics, because they were so light weight.
