Anyone familiar with VB and macros

I need some help so I thought I would reach out to my fellow MFP-ers
Long story short I am trying to write a macro to filter the column area of a pivot table but the item I want to show is not always available in every workbook that I am running the macro on.
I would like to figure out how to tell my macro to check the pivot fields for "text" and if it exists then show only this and if it does not exist add a worksheet.
Anyone out there able to help out?? Thanks a bunch!
